Abstract
Et alkalisk brenselcellesystem omfatter en alkalisk brenselcellestack, en kilde for brenselgass, en oksidasjonsgasspumpe for oksidasjonsgass, en elektrolyttank, en elektrolyttpumpe, en hjelpestrømlagringsanordning og en elektronisk styringsenhet. Oksidasjonsgasspumpen styres av den elektroniske styringsenheten til å forsyne en strøm av oksidasjonsgass til den alkaliske brenselcellestacken som varierer proporsjonalt med hvor mye elektrisk strøm som trekkes fra brenselcellestacken under alle belastningsforhold. Ved null belasning forsynes en minimumsstrøm av oksidasjonsgass til brenselcellestacken. Oksidasjonsgasspumpen kan være en positiv fortrengningspumpe så som en lamelipumpe, en skovipumpe, en lobepumpe eller en skmepumpe; eller den kan være en regulert kompressor. Videre er en mottrykksventil tilveiebragt i elektrolyttstrømningssløyfen for å opprettholde et positivt trykk i elektrolytten dersom elektrolytten føres gjennom brenselcellestacken.
