Abstract
SAMMENDRAG Det er beskrevet en fremgangsmåte og et apparat for enkeltvis deteksjon av partikler eller submikron-strukturer slik som biologiske molekyler og virus ved å benytte et optisk element (100) som omfatter et optisk transparent substrat (1) delvis belagt med en tynn film av metall (2) belyst med en optisk stråle (4) som treffer et område (3) av overflaten til det optiske metallet som ikke er belagt med metall ved et punkt tilstøtende eller nær det metallbelagte område til det optiske elementet, slik at strålen forplanter seg over, men nær og hovedsakelig parallelt med metalloverflaten som definerer en målesone hvorfra submikron-partikler (7) som befinner seg i en prøve (6) plassert i kontakt med det optiske elementet, sprer eller sender ut lys som kan detekteres i fjernfeltet ved hjelp av konvensjonelle foto-detektorsystemer. Apparatet kan være utformet i en strømningscelle- eller optisk mikroskop-konfigurasjon.
