Description
Oppfinnelsen angår et system for lokalisering av og kommunikasjon med et kjøretøy ved benyttelse av et celletelefonnettverk, hvor nettverket omfatter et antall celletelefonsystemer, idet systemet omfatter en posisjonslokaliserende mottaker for anbringelse på kjøretøyet og som er innrettet til å motta geografiske beliggenhetsdata fra et posisjonslokaliserende system, idet de geografiske beliggenhetsdata tilveiebringer en tilnærmet beliggenhet av kjøretøyet, en celle-sender-mottaker som er koplet til den posisjonslokaliserende mottaker og er innrettet til å sende de geografiske beliggenhetsdata over celletelefonnettverket, og en fjerntliggende styreenhet som er koplet til celletelefonnettverket og er innrettet til å motta de geografiske beliggenhetsdata som sendes av celle-sender-mottåkeren.
Videre angår oppfinnelsen en fremgangsmåte for lokalisering av og kommunikasjon med et kjøretøy ved benyttelse av et celletelefonnettverk, hvilket nettverk omfatter et antall celletelefonsystemer, hvor en posisjonslokaliserende mottaker som er anbrakt på kjøretøyet, er innrettet til å motta geografiske beliggenhetsdata fra et posisjonslokaliserende system for å tilveiebringe en tilnærmet geografisk beliggenhet av kjøretøyet, og hvor en celle-sender-mottaker er koplet til den posisjonslokaliserende mottaker og er innrettet til over celletelefonnettverket å sende de geografiske beliggenhetsdata for kjøretøyet til en fjerntliggende styreenhet som er koplet til celletelefonnettverket .
Oppfinnelsen angår også et system og en fremgangsmåte av den type som er angitt i innledningen til henholdsvis krav 3 og krav 10.
I næringer som benytter et stort antall kjøretøyer som kjører i forskjellige geografiske områder, som f.eks. innen langtransport-lastebilnæringen, må historisk sett førere av kjøretøyene periodisk kommunisere med et basis- eller hjemmekon-tor for å rapportere informasjon, såsom forhåndenværende sted for kjøretøyet, antallet av kjørte timer og eventuelle problemer som man kommer ut for med kjøretøyet. Innen sådanne næringer hvor det er et behov for å bestemme den geografiske beliggenhet av et kjøretøy, er sporingssystemer som utnytter Loran-C-mottakere og mikrobølgesendere, blitt benyttet for kjøretøylokalisering. Anvendelse av slikt utstyr har en tendens til å være begrenset bare til å lokalisere og oppspore kjøretøyene. I mange tilfeller består det eneste middel for lokalisering av et kjøretøy i tjeneste i at føreren av kjøretøyet stanser, går ut av kjøretøyet og ringer inn en rapport til hjemmekontoret fra en offentlig telefonautomat. Til dags dato har celletelefonindustrien ikke vært i stand til å trenge inn på lastebilkjøringsmarkedet og andre næringer hvor kjøretøylokalisering ønskes, av sådanne grunner som høye oppstartingsomkostninger for oppnåelse av terminalutstyr, og høye driftsomkostninger.
EP-A-0 290 725 viser en fremgangsmåte for bestemmelse av den tilnærmede beliggenhet av en mobilradiostasjon ved sending av posisjonsinformasjon som er overlagret på talesignaler som utsendes av mobilstasjonen. Mobilstasjonen mottar et datatelegram som inneholder et karakteristisk stasjonsnummer, og gjenutsender dette datatelegram overlagret over et talesignal til et sentralt vurderingssted.
DE-A-3 516 357 viser et i et kjøretøy anordnet lokaliserings- og fremvisningssystem som bestemmer beliggenhet basert på faste stasjonskjennemerker. Fremvisningen i kjøretøyet justeres automatisk basert på den bestemte beliggenhet av en mobilradiostasjon.
EP-A-0 367 935 viser et lokaliserings- og navigasjons-system som benytter stedsfaste radiostasjonsnumre for på tilnærmet måte å bestemme kjøretøybeliggenhet, og som fremviser et kart inne i kjøretøyet svarende til den bestemte beliggenhet. Det kjente system utvelger automatisk relevante kartutsnitt som skal fremvises for føreren.
EP-A-0 242 099 viser et antityveri- og lokaliserings-system som benytter det globale posisjoneringssystem og et celle-mobiltelefonsystem for å avføle et kjøretøysinnbrudd og lokalisere stjålne kjøretøyer. Denne publikasjon viser en antityveri-anordning hvor etablering av en radioforbindelse mellom kjøre-tøyet og en sentral stasjon oppnås som reaksjon på en ikke-autorisert tilgang til kjøretøyet.
Ifølge den foreliggende oppfinnelsen er det tilveiebrakt et system av den innledningsvis angitte type som er kjennetegnet ved at det omfatter
en database i den fjerntliggende styreenhet og som inneholder et omstreifernummer for et spesielt celletelefonsystem
som betjener et område som omfatter den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet, og
en kommunikasjonsanordning i den fjerntliggende styreenhet for plassering av anrop fra den fjerntliggende styreenhet til kjøretøyet ved benyttelse av omstreifernummeret.
Ifølge oppfinnelsen er det også tilveiebrakt en fremgangsmåte av den innledningsvis angitte type som er kjennetegnet ved at den omfatter de trinn
å avhøre en database i den fjerntliggende styreenhet for å oppnå et nummer som er knyttet til et spesielt celletelefonsystem som betjener et område som omfatter den tilnærmede/geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet, og
å plassere et anrop fra den fjerntliggende styreenhet til kjøretøyet ved benyttelse av nummeret.
Ifølge oppfinnelsen er det også tilveiebrakt et system av den type som er angitt i innledningen til krav 3, og som er kjennetegnet ved de trekk som er angitt i den karakteriserende del av dette krav. Videre er det tilveiebrakt en fremgangsmåte av den type som er angitt i innledningen til krav 10, og som er kjennetegnet ved de trekk som er angitt i den karakteriserende del av dette krav.
Fremgangsmåten og systemet for lokalisering og kommunikasjon ifølge den foreliggende oppfinnelse overvinner de ovenfor omtalte og andre problemer som er knyttet til den kjente teknikk, idet den/det utnytter eksisterende celletelefonsystemtjenester og -informasjon. En mikroprosessor avhører en celletelefon som er beliggende i kjøretøyet, for å oppnå stedsinf ormas jon som mottas av celletelef onen i en luf tmeldingsstrøm som overføres fra det spesielle cellesystem som yter service eller tjeneste ved tidspunktet for avhøringen. Et anrop initieres fra celletelefonen til en fjerntliggende styreenhet for fremvisning av kjøre-tøyets beliggenhet på et kart og tekstfremvisning av eventuell annen kjøretøyinformasjon som overføres fra kjøretøyet. En taleaktiverings/gjenkjennelses-anordning er koplet til mikroprosessoren, og en håndfri mikrofon og en høyttaler er koplet til taleaktiverings/gjenkjennelsesanordningen for å tillate håndfri operasjon av systemet av kjøreren av kjøretøyet.
Oppfinnelsen skal i det følgende beskrives nærmere i forbindelse med utførelseseksempler under henvisning til tegningene, der fig. 1 er et diagram som illustrerer kommunikasjon mellom kjøretøyet og vertsstyreenheten ifølge oppfinnelsen over et mobilt cellesystem, fig. 2 viser et blokkskjema av i-kjøretøy-delen av lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen, fig. 3 viser et blokkskjema av vertsstyreenhet-delen av lokaliseringssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen, fig. 4 viser et flytskjema av virkemåten av i-kjøretøy-delen av lokaliserings-og kommunikasjonssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen, fig. 5 viser et flytskjema av virkemåten av vertsdelen av lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen, og fig. 6 viser et blokkskjema av maskinvaren i et i et kjøretøy anbrakt lokaliser-ingssystem som omfatter en andre utførelse av oppfinnelsen.
Det henvises nå til tegningene, og mer spesielt til fig. 1 hvor det er vist en illustrasjon av lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen som omfatter en sentral datainnsamlingsanordning eller fjerntliggende styreenhet (heretter kalt vertsstyreenhet) 10 som har et display 12 og et tastbord 14 tilkoplet til denne. Som vist ved hjelp av en retningspil 16, kommuniserer vertsstyreenheten 10 med et mobilt telefonkoplingskontor 18 som på sin side, som vist ved hjelp av en retningspil 20, kommuniserer med en spesiell cellesender 22 for overføring og mottaking av signaler fra et kjøretøy 24 som er utstyrt med en mobil celle-sender-mottaker (ikke vist) som er koplet til minst én mikroprosessor (ikke vist).
Som vist på fig. 1, utsendes en luftmeldingsstrøm som inneholder cellesystem-identifikasjonsinformasjon, deriblant SID-nummeret og, der hvor det overføres, celleidentifikasjonsnummeret og senderstedkoordinatene, fra cellesenderen 22 og mottas av i-kjøretøy-delen av lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet (ikke vist). Signalet avleses deretter av i-kjøretøy-delen av lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet, for å bestemme eksistensen av tilstrekkelig signalstyrke for overføring fra kjøretøyet 24. Ved avlesing av en tilstrekkelig signalstyrke og/eller utløp av en forutbestemt tidsperiode sendes en rapport automatisk fra kjøretøyet 24 til cellesenderen 22 fra hvilken signalet, som vist ved hjelp av retningspilen 20, overføres til det mobile telefonkoplingskontor 18, og derfra til vertsstyreenheten 10 som angitt ved hjelp av retningspilen 16.
Den mottatte informasjon avleses av vertsstyreenheten 10 og slås opp i en database som er knyttet til denne og inneholder SID-numre (abonnentidentifikasjonsnumre), omstreif er-numre (roamer numbers), celleidenti fikas jonsnumre og sendersted-koordinater, for å bestemme beliggenheten av det rapporterende kjøretøy 24. Beliggenheten 26 av kjøretøyet 24 trer deretter sterkt frem på et kart 28 som fremvises på skjermen 12 som er koplet til vertsstyreenheten 10. Ved dette tidspunkt oppnår operatøren av vertsstyreenheten 10 det telefonnummer som er nødvendig for å initiere et telefonanrop til kjøretøyet 24, idet han benytter tastbordet 14 til å oppkalle telefonnummeret fra den database som er knyttet til vertsstyreenheten 10.
Langtransport-lastebilførere må periodisk rapportere til basisterminalen eller hjemmekontoret sådan informasjon som det totale antall kjøretimer, eventuelle problemer med kjøre-tøyet, kjøreplanendringer, status for lasten, såvel som eventuell annen informasjon som trengs av hjemmekontoret. For å opprett-holde løpende informasjon, sørger lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen for automatisk, periodisk rapportering av sådan informasjon til hjemmekontoret. Rapporten initieres i i-kjøretøy-delen av systemet.
Slik som vist i blokkskjemaet på fig. 2, omfatter i-kjøretøy-delen av systemet en mikroprosessor 40 som har et tilknyttet leselager ("ROM") 42, et tilknyttet direktelager ("RAM") 44, og en ekspansjonsport 46 for funksjonsvalg (vist med stiplede linjer) omfattende automatisk rapportering av motorstatus, et lastebilalarmsystem, og en Loran-C-instillingsinngang for å tillate lokalisering av kjøretøyet ved benyttelse av Loran-C i tillegg til cellekommunikasjon.
ROM 42 inneholder de nødvendige styreprogrammer for drift av i-kjøretøy-delen av systemet. RAM 44 er tilgjengelig for lagring av operas jonsinstruks joner som er f jernprogr ammer bare fra vertsstyreenheten 10.
I et forsøk på å overvåke kjøretøytilstander sørger det valgfrie motorstatus-rapporteringssærtrekk 43 for avlesing ved hjelp av mikroprosessoren av motortilstander, såsom temperatur, motorhastighet og oljetrykk. I tilfelle av tyveri av kjøretøyet varsler det valgfrie lastebilalarmsystem 45 mikroprosessoren for å gi beskjed til den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 om å iverksette et anrop for å rapportere tyveriet av kjøretøyet. For å tillate lokalisering ved utnyttelse av eksisterende sporings-systeminformasjon, sørger den valgfrie Loran-C-posisjonsinngang 47 for mottakelse av Loran-C-posisjoneringsoverføringer.
En kraftforsyning 48 er koplet til kjøretøybatteriet for å tilveiebringe elektrisk energi for drift av mikroprosessoren 40. En startbryter 50 aktiverer en lydmultiplekser 52 for å motta førerinnmating via en håndfri mikrofon 54. Innmatingen fra den håndfrie mikrofon 54 overføres deretter via lydmultiplekseren 52 til en talegjenkjennelses- og synteseenhet 56 for omforming til digital form som kan leses av mikroprosessoren 40.
Informasjon mottas også av mikroprosessoren 40 fra vertsstyreenheten via den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 som er beliggende i kjøretøyet. Celle-radiosignaler mottas av den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 som er koplet til en kjøretøy-antenne 60. Signalene overføres deretter over celle-telefon-bussen 62 via lydmultiplekseren 52 og et smart-modem 72 til mikroprosessoren 40. Mikroprosessoren 40 er koplet til lydmultiplekseren 52 via smartmodemet 72 for å tillate uttrekking av den digitale informasjon fra det analoge signal og for modulasjon av den informasjon som overføres fra mikroprosessoren 40. Et grensesnitt 74 tilveiebringer den nødvendige protokoll for kommunikasjon mellom mikroprosessoren 40 og den mobile celleenhet .
I tilfelle av lydkommunikasjon mellom operatøren av vertsstyreenheten og føreren, overføres signalene fra sender-mottakeren 58 over celle-telefon-bussen 62 til håndsettet eller telefonrøret 64 på den mobile celleenhet. Dersom føreren av kjøretøyet velger å benytte den håndfrie mikrofon 54 i stedet for telefonrøret 64, for lydkommunikasjon med operatøren av vertsstyreenheten, vandrer lydkommunikasjonen fra celletelefonbussen 62 via lydmultiplekseren 52 til en forsterker 66 for utsendelse til kjøretøyføreren via en høyttaler 68. Styrken eller volumet av sendingen reguleres ved hjelp av en volumkontroll 70 som styrer forsterkeren 66.
Driftsenergi tilveiebringes til forsterkeren 66 og celletelefon-sender-mottakeren 58 fra kjøretøyets tenning. Når føreren kommuniserer verbalt over celletelefonen, kan han snakke enten via den håndfrie mikrofon 54 eller han kan løfte av og snakke via telefonrøret 64. For lagring av informasjon via
talegjenkjennelse kan den håndfrie mikrofon benyttes.
Slik som vist i blokkskjemaet på fig. 2, er det til mikroprosessoren 40 som er koplet til den mobile celleenhet, tilkoplet en kalender og klokke 49 for dokumentering av datoen og tidspunktet for lagring og/eller sending av informasjon. En rapportintervallklokke 51 sørger for å bestemme når det skal iverksettes et anrop til vertsstyreenheten basert på utløpet av en forutbestemt tidsperiode som er fjernprogrammert av vertsstyreenheten og lagret i RAM 44.
For å hindre anrop som foretas fra den mobile enhet til numre som ikke er autorisert eller godkjent av hjemmekontoret, har mikroprosessoren 40 en funksjon 53 for begrenset telefonan-vendelse som gjennomsøker en liste av godkjente telefonnumre som er f j ernprogr ammert av vertsstyreenheten og lagret i RAM 44. Nummertastene på celletelefonens håndsett er gjort uvirksomme. Tilgang til de godkjente numre kan således bare oppnås ved hjelp av talekommando. Dersom det nummer som innføres ved hjelp av talekommando, ikke er inneholdt i listen over godkjente numre, blir anropet automatisk hindret. På liknende måte hindrer oppslagstabellen 55 for autoriserte eller godkjente systemer iverksettelse av et anrop når det SID-nummer som er inneholdt i meldingsstrømmen ved tidspunktet for avhøring, ikke er inneholdt i den nevnte oppslagstabell.
Mikroprosessorens 40 talegjenkjennelsesoperasjon 57 sørger for mottakelse og lagring av informasjon i et lager som er koplet til den mobile celle-sender-mottaker, ved mottaking av verbal innmating fra kjøretøyets fører. I tillegg til avlesing og sending av informasjon har mikroprosessoren 40 en sporings-logg-mulighet 59 for registrering og lagring av kjøretøyinforma-sjon for utvidede rapporteringsperioder for senere rapportkompi-lering.
Som vist i blokksk j emaet på fig. 3, omfatter den sentrale datainnsamlingsanordning eller vertsstyreenhetsdelen av lokaliseringssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen en vertsstyreenhet 90 som er koplet til et smartmodem 92 for å tillate kommunikasjon mellom styreenheten 90 og et vilkårlig antall telefonlinjer som er reservert bare for kjøretøyrapportering. Til vertsstyreenheten 90 er det knyttet et valgfritt auto-oppringingssærtrekk 94 (vist med stiplede linjer) for iverksetting av anrop over en wattlinje 96. Anrop iverksettes til, såvel som anrop mottas fra, kjøretøyet over wattlinjen 96.
Til vertsstyreenheten er det tilkoplet minst én terminal 98. Når det dreier seg om større selskaper, kan en valgfri systemutvidelseskonfigurasjon 104 (vist med stiplede linjer) som utnytter et eksisterende kundebehandlingssystem 106 og eksisterende ekspedisjonsterminaler 108, utnyttes for å redusere systeminstallasjonsomkostninger. Hver terminal 98 har en skjerm 100 for fremvisning av et kart, lokaliseringsinforma-sjon angående hvert rapporterende kjøretøy, og tekstinformasjon som rapporteres av hvert kjøretøy. Et tastbord 102 er koplet til hver terminal 98 for f jernprogrammering av godkjente telefonnumre for lagring i RAM-lageret 44 som er knyttet til mikroprosessoren 40, for å tillate vertsdperatøren å skaffe tilgang til databaser som inneholder telefonnumre for de forskjellige beliggenheter av de rapporterende kjøretøyer, for å tillate menyvalg, og for å tillate fjernprogrammering av rapporttidsintervallet i de mikroprosessorer som er beliggende i hvert av kjøretøyene.
Ved hjelp av en feilkorrigerende protokoll gir vertsstyreenheten 90 mikroprosessoren 40 - via den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 - beskjed om å sende informasjon til vertsstyreenheten. Vertsstyreenheten 90 mottar den nevnte innmating via smartmodemet 92 fra det rapporterende kjøretøy. Informasjonen avleses av vertsstyreenheten 90 og beliggenhetsinformasjon slås opp i en database som er knyttet til denne. Kjøretøyets beliggenhetsinformasjon fremvises deretter på skjermen 100 på terminalen 98. En i-tjeneste-området-alarm utløses for å underrette operatøren av vertsstyreenheten 90 om inngangen av et rapporterende kjøretøy i et rapporteringsområde med kraftig signal, for å tillate operatøren av vertsstyreenheten å innlede kontakt med det rapporterende kjøretøy.
I tilfelle operatøren av vertsstyreenheten trenger å innlede kontakt med et kjøretøy, idet han krever beliggenhet av kjøretøyet, mellom rapporteringsperioder, trekker operatøren av vertsstyreenheten 90 frem informasjon angående det siste rapporteringstidspunkt1 og den siste beliggenhet av kjøretøyet. Ved benyttelse av det tilkoplede tastbord 102 innmater operatøren da det endelige bestemmelsessted for kjøretøyet. Vertsstyreenheten 90 bestemmer deretter den tilnærmede rute for kjøretøyet, beregner den gjennomsnittlige hastighet av kjøretøyet idet den benytter tidligere rapporterte kjøretimer og tilbakelagt avstand for å bestemme den tilnærmede avstand som er tilbakelagt siden den siste rapporteringsperiode, og bestemmer derved den tilnærmede beliggenhet av kjøretøyet. Cellenumre for et forutbestemt område som omgir den tilnærmede beliggenhet av kjøretøyet, slås opp i databasen og oppringes automatisk av vertsstyreenheten 90 med forutbestemte mellomrom inntil kontakt oppnås med kjøretøyet.
Metoden for sending fra i-kjøretøy-delen av lokaliseringssystemet ifølge oppfinnelsen er vist i flytskjemaet på fig. 4, under henvisning til blokkskjemaet på fig. 2. I begynnelsen bestemmer mikroprosessoren 40 om en forutbestemt tidsperiode har utløpt (ved 120), idet tidsintervallet er blitt fjernprogrammert av vertsstyreenheten 10. Dersom intervallet ikke har utløpt, fortsetter mikroprosessoren 40 å sykle inntil et sådant tidspunkt da det tas en bestemmelse om at den forutbestemte tidsperiode har utløpt. Ved dette tidspunkt avhører mikroprosessoren 40 (ved 122), via grensesnittet 74, den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 som er beliggende i kjøretøyet, for å avlese den signalstyrke som mottas av den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58, for å bestemme om kjøretøyet befinner seg i et cellesystem-tjenesteområde (ved 124). Dersom kjøretøyet befinner seg i et cellesystem-tjenesteområde, vil mikroprosessoren avlese SID-nummeret (ved 126) ut fra den informasjon som mottas av den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 fra luftmeldingsstrømmen, og vil slå opp SID-nummeret (ved 126) fra den database som er installert i denne, for å bestemme den riktige nummertastemetode for å innlede et anrop fra den mobile celle-sender-mottaker til vertsstyreenheten.
Mikroprosessoren 40 foretar deretter en bestemmelse med hensyn til hvorvidt mikroprosessoren er blitt fjernprogrammert av vertsstyreenheten 10 for å autorisere kjøretøyet til å ringe ut i det spesielle cellesystem-tjenesteområde (ved 128) som tilveiebringer tjeneste til den mobile celleenhet. Dersom anropet er autorisert eller godkjent, bestemmer mikroprosessoren 40 deretter (ved 130) hvorvidt den signalstyrke som mottas av den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58, er tilstrekkelig til å autorisere innledning av et anrop fra kjøretøyet til vertsstyreenheten 10. Dersom kjøretøyet ikke er autorisert til å ringe ut i tjenesteområdet, eller dersom signalstyrken ikke er tilstrekke lig, vil mikroprosessoren 40 returnere til trinnet med bestemmelse av om kjøretøyet befinner seg i et tjenesteområde (124) og vil fortsette gjennom hvert av trinnene (ved 126, 128 og 130) inntil det oppnås en bestemmelse om at kjøretøyet er autorisert til å ringe ut av tjenesteområdet, og at den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 mottar en akseptabel signalstyrke for innledning av et anrop. Ved dette tidspunkt vil mikroprosessoren gi den mobile celleenhet beskjed om å ringe ut (ved 132).
Etter at nummeret er blitt slått, bestemmer mikroprosessoren 40 hvorvidt anropet er blitt oppkoplet frem til smartmodemet 92 (ved 134) som er tilkoplet til vertsstyreenheten 90 på terminalen eller hjemmekontoret. Dersom det tas en bestemmelse om at anropet ikke har resultert i forbindelse med smartmodemet 92, gir mikroprosessoren 40 den mobile celleenhet beskjed om å legge på (ved 136). Dersom imidlertid anropet har gått igjennom, mottar mikroprosessoren 40 instruksjoner fra vertsstyreenheten 90 om å overføre forutbestemt informasjon til vertsstyreenheten. I overensstemmelse med de nevnte instruksjoner sender mikroprosessoren 40 (ved 138) det spesielle kjøretøy-identif ikasjonsnummer, beliggenhetsinf ormas j onen som er oppnådd fra luftmeldingsstrømmen ved avhøring av den mobile celleenhet, og telemetridata angående sådan informasjon som kjøretøysystem-status, kjøretimer, og eventuell annen informasjon som er lagret i det lager som er knyttet til den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58.
Så snart overføringen av informasjon er komplett, mottar mikroprosessoren 40 en kommando fra vertsstyreenheten 90 om å frakople (ved 140). Ved mottakelse av kommandoen om å frakople gir mikroprosessoren den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 58 beskjed om å frakople eller kople ned (ved 142) anropet til vertsstyreenheten 90.
Etter fråkopling eller avbrytelse av anropet til vertsstyreenheten 90 laster mikroprosessoren 40 intervallklokken på nytt (ved 144) for å bestemme utløpet av den forutbestemte tidsperiode i hvilken den neste automatiske rapport fra kjøre-tøyet til vertsstyreenheten 90 skal innledes. Hver gang den forutbestemte tidsperiode utløper, blir hvert av de trinn som er angitt i flytskjemaet på fig. 4, automatisk utført for å innlede overføring av en rapport fra mikroprosessoren gjennom den mobile celleenhet over celletelefonsystemet til vertsstyreenheten hvor informasjonen leses, slås opp, fremvises og lagres av vertsstyreenheten for senere kompilering til den detaljerte rapport som dekker varierende tidsperioder og hvilket som helst antall av rapporterende kj øretøyer.
Idet det nå henvises til fig. 5, er det der vist et flytskjema av virksomheten av den sentrale datainnsamlingsanordning eller vertsstyreenhetsdelen av lokaliseringssystemet. Som vist på fig. 5, under henvisning til blokkskjemaet på fig. 3, når et anrop innledes av et rapporterende kjøretøy til vertsstyreenheten 90, ringer (ved 200) den telefon som er tilkoplet til vertsstyreenheten, og besvares (ved 202). Ved sammenkopling med vertsstyreenheten 90 (ved 204) via smartmodemet 92 avhører vertsstyreenheten 90 mikroprosessoren i det rapporterende kjøretøy (ved 206) for å bestemme kjøretøyets identifikasjonsnummer. Vertsstyreenheten 90 slår deretter opp identifikasjonsnummeret for å bestemme (ved 208) om identifikasjonsnummeret er gyldig. Dersom kjøretøyets identifikasjonsnummer er ugyldig, vil vertsstyreenheten 90 gi den mobile celletelefon i kjøretøyet beskjed om å kople fra (ved 210), hvilket resulterer i at den mobile celleenhet avbryter anropet (ved 212).
Etter å ha bestemt at et gyldig kjøretøy-identifikasjonsnummer er blitt rapportert, gir vertsstyreenheten 90 i-kjøretøy-prosessoren beskjed (ved 214) om å sende informasjon angående beliggenheten av det rapporterende kjøretøy. Etter mottakelse av beliggenhetsinformasjonen (ved 216) gir vertsstyreenheten 90 mikroprosessoren beskjed (ved 218) om å sende telemetriske data angående forskjellige kjøretøysystemer. Dersom vertsstyreenheten ikke mottar data (ved 220) fra kjøretøyet, vil den gi beskjed (ved 222) til den mobile celleenhet i kjøretøyet om å frakople og innlede et nytt anrop. Dersom informasjonen mottas av vertsstyreenheten 90, oppdateres (ved 224) terminalens 98 skjerm 100 for å fremvise den aktuelle bel iggenhet sinf ormas jon for det rapporterende kjøretøy.
Informasjon blir også lagret (ved 226) for senere kompilering til rapportform. Deretter gir vertsstyreenheten 90 den fjerntliggende celleenhet beskjed (ved 210) om å frakople eller bryte anropet. Anropet frakoples og syklusen startes på nytt ved mottakelse av et anrop fra den mobile celleenhet.
Operasjonen av fremgangsmåten og innretningen for lokalisering og kommunikasjon slik som beskrevet, kombinerer således lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonsmuligheter i et system som utnytter eksisterende celletelefonsystemtjenester og -informasjon. Det cellesystem som stadig er i bruk i dag, består av mange sendersteder i og rundt byer, idet hvert utgjør en celle. Noen av senderstedene ligger så nær hverandre som ca. 1,5 km eller mindre i områder med tett trafikk. I de ytterste regioner av et tjenesteområde arbeider cellesenderstedene på høyere effektnivåer og er mer atskilt fra hverandre. Et nettverksgitter tvers over en by dannes av de tilstøtende celler for å tilveiebringe uavbrutt kommunikasjon for en mobil telefon-enhet som benytter cellested-håndfriteknikker etter hvert som kjøretøyet beveger seg mellom celler.
Når den befinner seg i et dekningsområde, mottar den mobile celleenhet en luftmeldingsstrøm som sendes kontinuerlig fra hvert cellesendersted. Den mobile celleenhet avstemmes automatisk til det sterkeste signal, idet dette er det signal som sendes fra det nærmeste cellesendersted. På denne måte er den mobile celleenhet i stand til å motta instruksjoner fra celle-nettverket med hensyn til når og hvor den mobile enhet må avstemmes på nytt til en annen talekanal i det nest nærmeste sendersted før kjøretøyet har beveget seg ut av rekkevidden for det siste sendersted.
Lokaliseringsinnretningen ifølge oppfinnelsen omfatter en mikroprosessor som er koplet til et modem som på sin side er koplet til en 800 MHz mobil celleradio-sender-mottaker i hvert kjøretøy. På transportbasisterminalen eller -hjemmekontoret er en vertsstyreenhet koplet via et modem til cellesenderen for å kommunisere med den mobile celleenhet og mikroprosessoren som er installert i kjøretøyet. Etter hvert som kjøretøyet beveger seg fra cellesystem til cellesystem og fra celle til celle i hvert cellesystem, mottar den mobile celleenhet luftmeldingsstrømmer som overføres fra cellesendersteder som er beliggende i de individuelle celler. Informasjon, såsom det spesielle SID-nummer, og nummeret på en spesiell celle fra hvilken luftmeld-ingsstrømmen er i ferd med å overføres, er inneholdt i meldings-strømmen. Den mikroprosessor som er tilkoplet til den mobile celleenhet, avhører enheten periodisk for å oppnå SID-nummeret og annen beliggenhetsinformasjon som overføres i luftmeldings-strømmen ved tidspunktet for avhøring. I det tilfelle at lengdegrads- og breddegradskoordinater for den fysiske beliggenhet av det spesielle sendersted som sender luftmeldingsstrømmen, er tilføyd til den utsendte informasjon, er mikroprosessoren i stand til å avhøre den mobile celleenhet for å bestemme kjøretøy-ets lengdegrads- og breddegradsbeliggenhet.
Styrken av det radiosignal som transporterer meldings-strømmen, bestemmes også av mikroprosessoren ved tidspunktet for avhøring. Dersom mikroprosessoren avleser en viss minimums-radiosignalstyrke og/eller en forutbestemt tidsperiode har utløpt, gir mikroprosessoren automatisk celleradio-sender-mottakeren beskjed om å innlede et telefonanrop til vertsstyreenheten i det spesielle cellesystem som yter tjeneste ved dette tidspunkt.
På basisterminalen eller hjemmekontoret mottar vertsstyreenheten telefonanropet og gir mikroprosessoren, via en privateid eller eiendomsbeskyttet feilkorreksjonsprotokoll, beskjed om å sende informasjon over cellesystemet til vertsstyreenheten. Vertsstyreenheten krever sending av sådan informasjon som SID-nummeret, og cellenummeret og de senderkoordinater som mottas av celle-sender-mottakeren fra luftmeldingsstrømmen, og krever i noen tilfeller at føreren av kjøretøyet sender informasjon som er lagret i et lager som er koplet til den mobile celleenhet.
Informasjon som lagres av kjøretøyets fører, omfatter sådan informasjon som kjøretøyets identitet, det antall timer som føreren har sittet ved rattet, eller annen informasjon basert på behovene til brukeren av lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet. Et tale-igangsettingssærtrekk og en håndfri mikrofon som er koplet til den mobile celle-sender-mottaker, tillater føreren automatisk å innføre informasjon angående kjøretimer, kjøretøy-identitet og annen forlangt informasjon uten å måtte løfte av telefonrøret.
Etter mottakelse av informasjonen slår vertsstyreenheten opp SID-nummeret i en til denne tilknyttet database for å bestemme SID-nummerets geografiske beliggenhet, for derved å bestemme beliggenheten av kjøretøyet. Kjøretøybeliggenheten bringes deretter til å tre sterkt frem på et kart som fremvises på en skjerm som er koplet til vertsstyreenheten. Ytterligere informasjon angående kjøretimer, kjøretøybeliggenhet eller annen forlangt informasjon, fremvises i tekst på skjermen på hvilken den kartindikerende, geografiske beliggenhet fremvises. Operatøren av vertsstyreenheten kan således øyeblikkelig se beliggenheten av det rapporterende kjøretøy og avlese relevant informasjon som rapporteres av kjøretøyet.
Informasjon som setter vertsstyreenhetens operatør i stand til å innlede et telefonanrop for å etablere talekommunika-sjon med kjøretøyets fører, er også inneholdt i den database som er knyttet til vertsstyréenheten. Informasjon som rapporteres fra kjøretøyet, lagres i et lager som er knyttet til vertsstyreenheten, for senere gjennomgang, analyse eller kompilering til rapporter som dekker forskjellige tidsperioder og kjøretøynumre.
Den database som er installert i vertsstyreenheten, inneholder også informasjon angående celleidentifikasjonsnumre og lengdegrads- og breddegradskoordinater for et spesielt sendersted innenfor cellene i tilfelle et spesielt cellesystem inneholder sådan informasjon i luftmeldingsstrømmen. Ved å tilføye et identifikasjonsnummer for den sendende celle og lengdegrads- og breddegradskoordinatene for cellesenderstedet til meldingsstrømmen, bestemmes kjøretøyets beliggenhet mer nøyaktig. Idet det antas at den mobile celleenhet alltid vil avstemme seg på den nærmeste sender, vil nøyaktigheten av kjøretøyets beliggenhet være tilnærmet en radius som er lik halve avstanden mellom det sendersted på hvilket den mobile enhet er avstemt, og det nest nærmeste sted. Således bestemmes en mer nøyaktig geografisk beliggenhet av kjøretøyet.
Ved å utnytte en taleaktivert, mobil celleenhet, overvåker basisterminalen eller hjemmekontoret på nøyaktig måte beliggenheten av hvert kjøretøy ved hjelp av konvensjonelle triangulerings-lokaliseringsteknikker ved benyttelse av celle-sendere som er beliggende i tilstøtende celler i et cellesystem, og oppnår også talekontakt med føreren av kjøretøyet ved et vilkårlig tidspunkt, idet den benytter eksisterende cellesystemer og systeminformasjon. Lokaliserings- og kommunikasjonssystemet lindrer således behovet for systemer og utstyr som er begrenset bare til kjøretøyoppsporing, øker lettvintheten ved fører/basis-tilgjengelighet, og unngår førerdistraksjon mens han kommuniserer med og rapporterer til basisterminalen eller hjemmekontoret.
Som vist i blokkskjemaet på fig. 6, er hele lokalise-ringssystemets innretning i et system som omfatter en andre utførelse av oppfinnelsen, inneholdt i et kjøretøy for å tillate føreren å fastslå den aktuelle beliggenhet av det kjøretøy som utnytter den informasjon som overføres i cellesystemets luftmel-dingsstrøm. Lokaliseringssystemet i kjøretøyet omfatter en mikroprosessor 250 med et tilknyttet leselager (ROM) 252 som inneholder et styreprogram, et tilknyttet direktelager (RAM) 254 for lagring av data som innmates av føreren, og en tilknyttet, ekstern lagerport 256 for opptakelse av innpluggingsmoduler som inneholder kart, adressekataloger og annen informasjon angående et spesielt geografisk område.
En grafisk skjerm 258 for å vise kjøretøyets geografiske beliggenhet og fremvise tekstinformasjon er knyttet til mikroprosessoren 250 i kjøretøyet. Et grensesnitt 260 sørger for kommunikasjon mellom mikroprosessoren 250 og den grafiske skjerm 258. Et smartmodem 251 forbinder mikroprosessoren 250 via lydmultiplekseren 259 med den mobile celleenhet for å tillate kommunikasjon mellom mikroprosessoren og den mobile celleenhet.
Slik som ved den første utførelse ifølge oppfinnelsen, foretar mikroprosessoren 250, ved bruk av et grensesnitt 264, automatisk avhøring, eller føreren kan velge en menyfunksjon ved bruk av et tastbord 262 som er koplet til mikroprosessoren, for å innlede avhøring av den mobile celle-sender-mottaker 266 via celle-telefon-bussen 268 for å oppnå beliggenhetsinformasjon fra den luftmeldingsstrøm som mottas av den mobile celleenhet via en antenne 270. Etter mottakelse av beliggenhetsinformasjonen fra luftmeldingsstrømmen slår mikroprosessoren 250 opp informasjonen i en database som er knyttet til mikroprosessoren 250, for å bestemme kjøretøyets geografiske beliggenhet. Den geografiske beliggenhet bringes deretter til å tre sterkt frem på et kart som fremvises på den geografiske skjerm 258 som er koplet til mikroprosessoren 250.
Det spesielle kart som fremvises, avhenger av det innpluggingsmodem som for øyeblikket er installert i den eksterne lagerport 256 som er koplet til mikroprosessoren 250. Ved anvendelse av tastbordet 262 kan føreren velge spesielle punkter av interesse fra de forskjellige adressebøker eller kataloger som er inneholdt i innpluggingsmodulene. Forskjellige menyvalg tillater føreren å innlede anrop til de spesielle punkter av interesse, å la beliggenheten av punktene av interesse tre klart frem på det kart som fremvises, og å motta tekstinformasjon angående den beregnede kjøretid for å nå frem til de utvalgte punkter av interesse fra den forhåndenværende kjøretøybeliggen-het. Ved anvendelse av tastbordet 262 kan føreren videre zoome eller panorere det kart som fremvises på den grafiske skjerm 258, for å oppnå mer detaljert informasjon.

Claims (11)
1. System for lokalisering av og kommunikasjon med et kjøretøy (24) ved benyttelse av et celletelefonnettverk, hvor nettverket omfatter et antall celletelefonsystemer, idet systemet omfatter en posisjonslokaliserende mottaker (46, 47) for anbringelse på kjøretøyet (24) og som er innrettet til å motta geografiske beliggenhetsdata fra et posisjonslokaliserende
system, idet de geografiske beliggenhetsdata tilveiebringer en tilnærmet beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), en celle-sender-mottaker (58; 266) som er koplet til den posisjonslokaliserende mottaker (46, 47) og er innrettet til å sende de geografiske beliggenhetsdata over celletelefonnettverket, og en fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) som er koplet til celletelefonnettverket og er innrettet til å motta de geografiske beliggenhetsdata som sendes av celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266),
KARAKTERISERT VED at det omfatter
en database i den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) og som inneholder et omstreifernummer for et spesielt celletelefonsystem som betjener et område som omfatter den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), og
en kommunikasjonsanordning (94, 96) i den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) for plassering av anrop fra den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) til kjøretøyet (24) ved benyttelse av omstreifernummeret.
2. System for lokalisering og kommunikasjon ifølge krav 1, KARAKTERISERT VED at det omfatter en prosessor (40; 250) som er koplet til celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266) for mottaking av informasjon fra celletelef onnettverket som indikerer kjøretøyets (24) geografiske beliggenhet.

System for lokalisering av og kommunikasjon med et kjøretøy (24) ved benyttelse av et celletelefonnettverk, hvor nettverket omfatter et antall celletelefonsystemer, idet hvert celletelefonsystem omfatter en sender (22) som utsender data som inneholder celletelefonsysteminformasjon, en celle-sender-mottaker (58; 266) som er anbrakt i kjøretøyet (24) og er innrettet til å motta celletelefonsysteminformasjonen, en prosessor (40; 250) som er koplet til celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266) og er innrettet til å behandle celletelefonsysteminfor-mas j onen for å tilveiebringe en tilnærmet geografisk beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), idet celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266) videre er innrettet til over celletelefonnettverket å sende informasjon som identifiserer den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), og en fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) som er koplet til celletelefonnettverket og er innrettet til å motta den informasjon som sendes av celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266), KARAKTERISERT VED at det omfatter
en database i den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) og som inneholder et omstreifernummer for et spesielt celletelefonsystem som betjener et område som omfatter den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), og
en kommunikasjonsanordning (94, 96) i den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) for plassering av anrop fra den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) til kjøretøyet (24) ved benyttelse av omstreifernummeret.
4. System for lokalisering og kommunikasjon ifølge krav 3, KARAKTERISERT VED at hvert celletelefonsystem omfatter et antall individuelle celler, idet hver celle utsender en mel-dingsstrøm som inneholder et systemidentifikasjonsnummer og et celleidenti fikasj onsnummer.

System for lokalisering og kommunikasjon ifølge krav 3 eller 4, KARAKTERISERT VED at prosessoren (40; 250) er innrettet til å avhøre meldingsstrømmen gjennom celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266) for å motta det utsendte systemidentifikasjonsnummer fra det celletelefonsystem som tilveiebringer kommunikasjonstjeneste til celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266) ved tidspunktet for avhøring.
6. System for lokalisering og kommunikasjon ifølge krav 4, KARAKTERISERT VED at prosessoren (40; 250) er innrettet til å avhøre meldingsstrømmen gjennom celle-sender-mottakeren (58;
266) for å motta det utsendte systemidentifikasjonsnummer og celleidentifikasjonsnummeret for den spesielle celle i celletelef onsystemet som tilveiebringer kommunikasjonstjeneste til kj øretøyet (24) ved tidspunktet for avhøring.
7. System for lokalisering og kommunikasjon ifølge krav 5 eller 6, KARAKTERISERT VED at prosessoren (40; 250) er innrettet for behandling av system- og/eller celleidentifikasjonsnummeret for å bestemme den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24) ved å bestemme beliggenheten av systemet eller cellen.

System for lokalisering og kommunikasjon ifølge ett av de foregående krav, KARAKTERISERT VED at det omfatter et grafisk display (258) som er koplet til prosessoren (40; 250) for fremvisning av et kart av et geografisk område som er dekket av det spesielle celletelefonsystem som tilveiebringer tjeneste og som inneholder den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av
kjøretøyet (24).

Fremgangsmåte for lokalisering av og kommunikasjon med et kjøretøy (24) ved benyttelse av et celletelefonnettverk, hvilket nettverk omfatter et antall celletelefonsystemer, hvor en posisjonslokaliserende mottaker (46, 47) som er anbrakt på kjøretøyet (24), er innrettet til å motta geografiske beliggenhetsdata fra et posisjonslokaliserende system for å tilveiebringe en tilnærmet geografisk beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), og hvor en celle-sender-mottaker (58; 266) er koplet til den posisjonslokaliserende mottaker (46, 47) og er innrettet til over celletelefonnettverket å sende de geografiske beliggenhetsdata for kjøretøyet (24) til en fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) som er koplet til celletelefonnettverket, KARAKTERISERT VED at den omfatter de trinn
å avhøre en database i den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) for å oppnå et nummer som er knyttet til et spesielt celletelefonsystem som betjener et område som omfatter den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), og
å plassere et anrop fra den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) til kjøretøyet (24) ved benyttelse av nummeret.

Fremgangsmåte for lokalisering av og kommunikasjon med et kjøretøy (24) ved benyttelse av et celletelefonnettverk, hvilket nettverk omfatter et antall celletelefonsystemer, idet hvert celletelefonsystem omfatter en sender (22) som utsender data som inneholder celletelefonsysteminformasjon, hvor en celle-sender-mottaker (58; 266) som er anbrakt på kjøretøyet (24), er innrettet til å motta celletelefonsysteminformasjonen, og hvor en prosessor (40; 250) som er koplet til celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266), er innrettet til å behandle celletelef onsysteminf orma-sjonen for å bestemme en tilnærmet geografisk beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), idet celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266) videre er innrettet til å sende til en fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) som er koplet til celletelefonnettverket, informasjon som identifiserer den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøre-tøyet (24), KARAKTERISERT VED at den omfatter de trinn
å avhøre en database i den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) for å oppnå et nummer som er knyttet til et spesielt celletelefonsystem som betjener et område som omfatter den tilnærmede geografiske beliggenhet av kjøretøyet (24), og
å plassere et anrop fra den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10) til kjøretøyet (24) ved benyttelse av nummeret.
11. Fremgangsmåte ifølge krav 10, KARAKTERISERT VED at den videre omfatter de trinn
å etablere en kommunikasjonsforbindelse mellom celle-sender-mottakeren (58; 266) og en fjerntliggende styreenhet (10), og
å overføre de geografiske beliggenhetsdata til den fjerntliggende styreenhet (10).
