Fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av
en nett-dannet polyimidplast.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår en fremgangsmåte
til fremstilling av en nett-dannet polyimidplast, hvilken består i å oppvarme til en temperatur mellom 8o° og 4-00°C, fortrinnsvis mellom 100° og 300°C, minst et N,N'-bis-imid av en umettet dikarbon-
syre svarende til den generelle formel
hvori R-^ betyr et toverdig radikal omfattende flere karbonatomer,
Ro betyr et toverdig radikal som omfatter minst en dobbelt-binding.
I den fremgangsmåte som er angitt i patent nr. 110.465} kan radikalet R-^ være en alkyl-rest som kan være substituert eller usubstituert, eller en substituert eller usubstituert•arylrest som kan være hydrert eller ikke, eller substituert eller usubstituert, hydrert eller ikke hydrert arylen-rest bundet med minst ett av fSi-gende radikaler: -CH^-, - SOr,- og -0-. Radikalet R^ omfatter minst en dobbelt-binding og fortrinnsvis svarende til en av folgende to formler:
hvori R^ til Rg or hydrogenatomer, substituerte eller usubstituerte alkyl-rester eller substituerte eller usubstituerte eller hydrerte eller ikke-hydrerte arylen-rester, idet disse rester omfatter ett eller flere karbonatomer.
De nett-dannede polyimid-harpikser som oppnås ved hjelp av denne fremgangsmåte, er usmeltelige, uoppløselige i orga-niske opplSsningsmidler og har forhSyet mekanisk motstandsevne og termisk stabilitet. De er allikevel brennbare, hvilket gjSr dem uskikket for utnyttelse på visse områder.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår således en fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av en nettdannet polyimidplast, hvilken består i at minst ett N,N<*->bis-imid av en umettet dikarbonsyre svarende til den generelle formel: ;hvori betyr et to-verdig radikal' omfattende flere karbonatomer, R2 betyr et to-verdig radikal som omfatter minst en dobbelt-binding, oppvarmes til en temperatur mellom 80° og 400°C, fortrinnsvis mellom 100° og 300°C, eventuelt i nærvær av en katalysator som kan gi frie radikaler, og den er karakterisert ved at det anvendes en for- ;bindelse hvor R-^ er en arylenrest eller en halogenert arylenrest, eller hvor flere av disse rester er bundet direkte eller ved minst ett av følgende radikaler hvor R er en arylrest og ved at Rr, i den anvendte forbindelse er et radikal som har en av <r>ølgende formler ;hvor R^ og R^ er hydrogen eller halogen, R^ er et fireverdig radikal som inneholder minst fire karbonatomer, idet minst et av radikalene R-j og Rj3 inneholder minst et halogenatom. ;Fremgangsmåten består således i å polymerisere minst ett halogenert N,N'-bis-imid. Et slikt bis-imid kan fås enten ved å gå ut fra et halogenert diamin eller fra et anhydrid av en umettet dikarbonsyre, eller ved å gå ut fra et diamin og fra et anhydrid av en umettet og halogenert dikarbonsyre, eller ved å gå ut fra et halogenert diamin og et anhydrid av en umettet og halogenert dikarbonsyre. ;Man anvender fortrinnsvis N,N'-bis-imider av følgende syrer: maleinsyre, diklormaleinsyre og klorendiksyre (heksaklorendometylentetrahydroftalsyre) og særlig: ;- N,N'-4-klor-m-fenylen-bis-imid-maleinsyre ;- N,N'- 2,5-diklor-m-fenylen-bis-imid-maleinsyre ;- N,N'-p,p'-3,3<*->diklordifenyleter-bis-imid-maleinsyre

- N,N'-p,p'-difenyleter-bis-imid-heksaklorendometylen-tetrahydroftal-syre - N,N'-p,p'-2,2'-diklor-3> 3'-dimetylbenzidin-bis-imid-heksaklorendo-metylen-tetrahydroftalsyre - N,N'-p,p'-difenylmetan-bis-imid-heksaklorendometylen-okta-hydro-naftalensyre.
Polymerisasjonsreaksjorten kan utføres i nærvær
av en katalysator som kan gi frie radikaler, slik som f.eks. et peroksyd, særlig dikumylperoksyd og dibenzoylperoksyd. Man kan likeledes anvende et azoderivat, slik som f.eks.■azo-bis-isobutyro-nitril.
Med hensyn til den mengde katalysator som skal anvendes, kan den velges slik at molar-forholdet mellom bis-imidet og katalysatoren skal være mellom 1:0,001 og 1:0,05»
Utførelsen av den ovenfor beskrevne fremgangsmåte kan f.eks. gjøres på følgende måte:
EKSEMPEL 1
Man oppvarmer 10 g N,N'-p,p'-3,3'-diklor-benzidin-bis-imid-maleinsyre til 350°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Man oppvarmer deretter i løpet av 3^ timer til 220°C. Det faste stoff som fås på denne måte er ubrennbart, uoppløselig i alle oppløsnings-midler og spaltes henimot ^ rJ0°C.
EKSEMPEL 2
10 g N,N'-p,p'-difenyleter-bis-imid-diklormaleinsyre oppvarmes til 270°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Deretter oppvarmes igjen i 38 timer til 220°C. Det erholdte faste stoff er ubrennbart, uoppløselig i alle oppløsningsmidler, og det spaltes over 500°C.
EKSEMPEL
10 g NjftM-p^-difenyleter-bis-imid-heksaklor-endometylen-tetrahydroftalsyre oppvarmes,til 360°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Man oppvarmer påny i 38 timer til 220°C. Det faste erholdte■stoff er ubrennbart, uoppløselig i alle oppløsnings-midler, og det spaltes over ^ >QQ°G.
EKSEMPEL 4
3 g N,N'-3)3'-diklorbenzidin-bis-imid-maleinsyre og 7 g N,N'-p,p'-difenyleter-bis-imid-maleinsyre oppvarmes til 250°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Deretter oppvarmes igjen i 38 timer til 220°C. Det erholdte faste stoff er uoppløselig i alle oppLøs-ningsmidler, og det spaltes henimot ^. rJ0°G.
EKSEMPEL 5
5 g N,N'-p,p'-difenyleter-bis-imid-diklor-maleinsyre og 5 £ N,N'-p,p'-difenyleter-bis-imid-maleinsyre oppvarmes til 240°C. Det smeltede stoff størkner. Deretter oppvarmes på ny i 38 timer til 220°C. Det erholdte faste stoff er uoppløselig i alle oppløsningsmidler, og det spaltes henimot 470°C.
EKSEMPEL 6
3 g N,N'-p,p'-difcnyleter-bis-imid-heksaklorendo-metylen-tetrahydroftalsyre og 7 £ N,N'-p,p'-difen leter-bis-imid-maleinsyre oppvarmes til 250°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Deretter oppvarmes igjen i 38 timer til 220°C. Det erholdte faste stoff er uoppløselig i alle oppløsningsmidler og det spaltes henimot 470°C.
EKSEMPEL 7
Man oppvarmer 10 g N,N'-p,p'-3,3'-diklorbenzidin-bis-imid-diklormaleinsyre til 350°C Det smeltede produkt størkner. Deretter oppvarmes igjen i 38 timer til 220°C. Det erholdte faste stoff er ubrennbart, uoppløselig i alle oppløsningsmidler, og det spaltes henimot /\. rJ0°C.
EKSEMPEL 8
10 g N,N'-2,5-diklor-m-fenylen-bis-imid-maleinsyre blandes med 0,02 g dikumylperoksyd, og blandingen oppvarmes til 270°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Deretter oppvarmes i 38 timer til 220°C. Det faste stoff er ubrennbart, uoppløselig i alle oppløsnings-midler, og det spaltes henimot 470°C.
EKSEMPEL 9
10 g N,N'-p,p'-3>3'-dibrombenzidin-bis-imid-maleinsyre oppvarmes til 360°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Deretter oppvarmes igjen i 38 timer til 220°C. Det erholdte faste stoff er ubrennbart, uoppløselig i alle oppløsningsmidler, og det spaltes henimot 470°C.
EKSEMPEL 10
10 g N,N'-p,p'-trifenyl-oksyd av fosfin-bis-imid-diklor-maleinsyre oppvarmes til 360°C. Det smeltede produkt størkner. Deretter oppvarmes på ny i 38 timer til 220°C. Det erholdte faste stoff er ubrennbart, uoppløselig i alle oppløsningsmidler, og det spaltes henimot 460°C.
Som man ser av disse eksempler, tillater fremgangsmåten som utgjør gjenstanden for foreliggende oppfinnelse, at det oppnås ubrennbare polyimid-harpikser hvilke har en forhøyet mekanisk motstandsevne og en forhøyet termisk stabilitet. Disse harpikser finner anvendelse over alt hvor slike egenskaper kreves,
