Description
Fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av findelt, utfelt kalsiumkarbonat.
I papir- og farveindustrien, i den far-masøytiske og kosmetiske industri såvel
som i gummiindustrien anvendes utfelt
kalsiumkarbonat som skal være mest mulig findelt. Det er kjent å utføre fremstil-lingen av et slikt kalsiumkarbonat ved omsetning av kalsiumsaltoppløsninger med
ammonium- eller alkalikarbonatoppløsnin-ger i nærvær av tilsetningsstoffer som under eller efter omsetningen tilsettes reak-sjonsblandingen, og som skal forhindre
dannelse av store krystaller eller agglome-rering av det primært dannede, findelte
CaCO.,. Ved de kjente fremgangsmåter foretrekkes for dette øyemed overflateaktive
substanser, for eks. organiske sulfonater,
alkyl- eller arylaminer, derivater av høyere
fettsyrer og lignende. Det er videre kjent
som tilsetningsstoffer å anvende kompleks-dannende substanser, for eks. saltene av
flerbasiske organiske oxysyrer, som citrater
eller tartrater, eller de såkalte kondenserte
fosfater som natriumpolyfosfat eller na-triumhexametafosfat. Den betydelig mengde av disse tilsetningsstoffer — det kreves
omtrent 20 deler tilsetningsstoffer pr. 100
deler kalsiumkarbonat — kan på kjent må-te nedsettes ved tilsetning av et oppløselig
fluorid eller silikofluorid til halvparten av
den mengde som kreves uten tilsetning av
de foran nevnte stoffer. Denne fremgangsmåte har den ulempe at såvel kalsiumkarbonatet som også den samtidig dannede
oppløsning av alkali- eller ammoniumsalter
forurenses i sterk grad av de nevnte tilsetningsstoffer. Dette gjør seg særlig bemerket
på en forstyrrende måte ved videreforar-beidelsen av disse alkali- eller ammonium-saltoppløsninger.
Det viste seg nu at man kan unngå disse ulemper og få et meget findelt CaCO;! når man utfeller kalsiumkarbonat i nærvær av små mengder oppløselige fluorider eller silikofluorider som eneste substanser som er virksomme for oppnåelse av den ønskede findeling. Det kreves bare ganske små mengder av slike fluorforbindelser som tilsetningsstoff for å få et findelt CaCOr Det med små mengder fluorforbindelser fremstilte kalsiumkarbonat inneholder mindre enn 0,1 % F og den samtidig dannede ammonium- eller alkalisaltoppløsning inneholder ingen påviselige mengder fluor. Kalsiumkarbonatet og ammonium- eller alka-lisaltoppløsningen fåes også ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen med høy renhet. Fremgangsmåten kan gjennomfø-res chargevis eller kontinuerlig. Ved den kontinuerlige gjennomføring innføres re-aksjonskomponentene hensiktsmessig i en
omsetningsbeholder utstyrt med et overløp eller i en blandingsdyse.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse er begrenset til den eneste tilsetning av fluorforbindelser, forsåvidt som fluorforbindelsene er de eneste virksomme substanser for oppnåelse av den ønskede findeling. Tilblandingen av i denne henseende indifferente stoffer, for eks. andre alkali- eller ammoniumsalter enn fluorider eller silikofluorider, er mulig.
Egnede fluorider er eksempelvis vann-oppløselige fluorider, for eks. kaliumfluorid, natriumfluorid eller ammoniumfluorid.
Egnede silikofluorider er for eks. kal-siumsilikofluorid, natriumsilikofluorid eller ammoniumsilikofluorid.
Andelen av fluorider eller silikofluorider i felningsoppløsningen kan være større eller også mindre. Det foretrekkes å velge en andel i området av 0,05 til 5 vektsdeler fluorid eller silikofluorid pr. 100 vektsdeler karbonat. Ved anvendelse av lavere fluoridmengder (0,05 vektsprosent) inntrer det bare en liten forurensning av det utfelte kalsiumkarbonat, men findelingen av det utfelte kalsiumkarbonat er ikke så god som ved anvendelse av større fluoridmengder. Ved anvendelse av større fluoridmengder (5 vektsprosent) får man et meget findelt kalsiumkarbonat, men fluoridinnholdet i kalsiumkarbonatet stiger til over 0,1 % F. I filtratet som etter utfellingen fraskilles kalsiumkarbonatet kan det ikke i noe til-felle påvises fluorid.
Ved kalsiumsaltoppløsning forståes vandige oppløsninger av kalsiumsalt, for eks. kalsiumnitrat eller kalsiumklorid. Med karbonater forståes ammoniumkarbonat, natriumkarbonat og kaliumkarbonat.
Overholdelsen av bestemte temperatu-rer, bestemte omrøringshastigheter eller pH-verdier under omsetningen er ikke nød-vendig. Filtereringen av det CaCO., som fremstilles ved fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen kan uten ulempe utføres len-gere tid etter omsetningen.
Findelingen av det etter fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen fremstilte CaCO., viser seg særlig ved det høye avsetningsvolum av en oppslemming i vann. Eksempel: Fra en 5 % vandig kalsiumkloridopp-
løsning utfelles kalsiumkarbonat under
omrøring ved innføring av en omtrent ek-vivalent mengde 40 % vandig ammonium-karbonatoppløsning som inneholder 0,2 % kaliumfluorid. Ammoniumkarbonatoppløs-ningen inneholder 0,5 vektsdeler kaliumfluorid pr. 100 vektsdeler ammoniumkarbonat. Ved utfellingen dannes en stiv, fløte-aktig reaksjonsblanding. Etter tilendebragt utfelling omrøres blandingen i ennu to mi-nutter og i tilslutning hertil filtreres. Det på denne måte fremstilte kalsiumkarbonat har en partikkelstørrelse av 0,1 ^ og inneholder 0,09 % F. Filtratet er fritt for fluor. Avsetningsvolumet av en oppslemming av 10 g av det på denne måte erholdte kalsiumkarbonat med 100 ml vann andrar etter 2 timer til 99 ml. I løpet av de føl-gende 24 timer kan det ikke påvises noen ytterligere sedimentering.
Utfeller man på kjent måte en 5 % kalsiumkloridoppløsning ved tilsetning av en sodaoppløsning som på 100 vektsdeler soda inneholder 10 vektsdeler alkalipolyfos-fat og 3 vektsdeler natriumsilikofluorid, under forøvrig de betingelser som ved det ovenfor anførte forsøk, så får man likeledes et findelt kalsiumkarbonat. Men reaksjons-blandingen (utfelling og oppløsning) inneholder på 100 vektsdeler av felningsmidlet 13 vektsdeler forurensninger likeoverfor bare 0,5 deler når det arbeides etter fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen.
Claims (1)
- Fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av findelt, utfelt kalsiumkarbonat ved omsetning av kalsiumsaltoppløsninger med oppløsnin-ger av karbonater i nærvær av tilsetningsstoffer som befordrer utfellingen av et findelt produkt, karakterisert ved at det som eneste tilsetningsstoff for oppnåelse av et findelt produkt anvendes små mengder vannløselige fluorider eller silikofluorider.
