Abstract

1,244,010. Buckles. SEHLBACH TEXTILUND VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. [trading as HERBERT SEHLBACH SCHMALWEBEREIEN]. 11 Nov., 1968 [1 June, 1968], No. 53326/68. Heading E2A. [Also in Division F2] A device for releasably securing a lashing strap 15, is in the form of a buckle having a body carrying means 11a, 12a for securing one end region of the strap thereto and a rotatably mounted pin 12 and another pin 11 disposed parallel to the said rotatably mounted pin, these pins being so disposed that another end region of the strap can be entrained about them in such a manner that, considered in the direction from the free end of the said other end region to the main body of the strap, the strap passes around a peripheral portion of the said rotatably mounted pin 12, in a given direction, then around a peripheral portion of the other pin 11, in a direction opposite to the given direction, and then around the said portion of the rotatably mounted pin, in the said opposite direction, so as to lie in frictional contact with the strap part already passed around the said portion of the rotatably mounted pin, the said rotatably mounted pin being provided with means (not shown) for rotating it from outside the buckle whereby when it is desired to release a strap already secured by the said entrainment, the rotatably mounted pin can be rotated in the said given direction so as to overcome the strap-surface to strap-surface frictional engagement existing where the strap passes in two layers around the said portion of the rotatably mounted pin. The body consists of two parallel plates one of which 10 is shown. Instead of the first mentioned end region of the strap being threaded over two pins 11 a, 12a or as shown, it can be formed into a loop by sewing and engaged with a single pin; when two pins are used as shown, both can be fixed or one 12a can be rotatable in the same manner as pins 12. The buckle is used with a separate tensioning device (see Division F2).
