Abstract

1327228 Belt buckles E T SKINNER & CO Ltd 16 Aug 1971 [17 Aug 1970] 39589/70 Heading E2A A quick-release belt comprises a belt strap 1 and a buckle 2 carrying a pivotally movable pin 8 detachably engageable with a hole 9 in the strap when one end 4 thereof is put through the buckle, the other end 12 of the strap being attached to the pin in such a manner that when the end 4 is pulled to effect release the resulting tension in the strap causes the end 12 to apply to the pin a turning moment in a pivotal direction which ensures automatic disengagement of the pin from the hole 9 in the strap and consequent release of the belt. As shown, the strap is passed underneath the buckle cross-bar 6 and the roller 7. Weights 14 having an H-shaped slot are secured to the belt by loop portions 1a, 1b of the strap. The belt may be applied to divers' belts, as shown, and car and aircraft seat belts.
