905,415. Belts and straps; buckles. BARROW HEPBURN & GALE Ltd. Nov. 27, 1959 [Dec. 1, 1958], No. 34854/59. Classes 43 and 141. In a belt or strap including a friction-type buckle 9 through which a part of the belt &c. has been threaded, a stop-bar 10 is secured to the threaded end to prevent this end being completely withdrawn through the buckle, the stopbar being sufficiently long to project beyond opposite edges of the belt &c. The bar 10 is of wood or metal and has enlarged ends and the end of the strap is looped round the narrow part of the bar and stitched to itself. A retaining loop 5 is passed through the loop in the strap and round the main part of the strap to retain the threaded end in position. In Fig. 2 the buckle connects two strap sections 7, 8, each having a snap hook 11 at its free end for connection with D-rings on a workman's safety belt. In another embodiment (not shown) a nylon waist-belt has one end permanently secured to a buckle and its other end threaded through the buckle and provided with a stop-bar. Alternatively both ends of the belt may be threaded through a double buckle and provided with stop-bars, as in Specification 905,414. The buckle comprises a rigid frame in which are journalled two eccen trically-shaped gripping components which cooperate with the adjacent margins of the frame to grip the respective parts of the belt. In a further modification the double buckle is re placed by two separate buckles on a short length of webbing. The belt may comprise a closed ring or have a hook-and-eye fastening.
