Abstract
Se describe un metodo para producir aldehidos, acidos carboxilicos, y/o anhidridos de acido carboxilico, especialmente anhidrido ftalico. De acuerdo con dicho metodo de una corriente gaseosa que comprende un hidrocarburo aromatico y oxigeno molecular es dirigida por menos a traves de un lecho de un primer catalizador y un lecho de un segundo catalizador a temperatura elevada, el segundo catalizador que esta ubicado corriente abajo desde el primer catalizador en la direccion de flujo de la corriente gaseosa y que tiene una mayor actividad que el primer catalizador, El material cataliticamente activo del primer catalizador contiene por lo menos oxido de vanadio, oxido de titanio, y oxido de antimonio, la relacion entre el vanadio, el cual es clasificado como V2O5, y el antimonio, el cual es clasificado como Sb2O3, en el primer catalizador varia entre 3.5: y 5:1. De manera preferible, el trioxido de antimionio, en particulas que tiene un tamano de particular promedio 0.5 hasta 5 ??m es utilizado como la fuente de oxido de antimonio. En el primer catalizador. El metodo de la invencion permite que se obtengan los productos de oxidacion deseados en un gran rendimiento a traves de periodos prolongados.
