Abstract
Se describe un proceso para producir uno o más metales a partir de una alimentación de minerales (12). El mineral se alimenta en un aparato de lixiviación (10) en el cual entra en contacto con un electrólito (14). El aparato de lixiviado tiene zonas de potencial de oxidación decreciente (17, 18, 19 y 20) respectivamente. Se extrae una corriente de electrólito (14A) de la zona (20) y se la trata para eliminar impurezas y metales no deseados en la unidad de tratamiento (25A), antes de la recuperación del metal por electrólisis. Después de la electrólisis, el electrólito se devuelve a la unidad de lixiviación (10). Es posible extraer una segunda corriente de electrólito (14B) de la zona (19) para la recuperación de metales adicionales. El electrólito (14B) se trata para eliminar las impurezas y los metales no deseados en la unidad de tratamiento (25B), antes de la recuperación del metal por electrólisis. Después de la electrólisis, el electrólito se devuelve a la unidad de lixiviado (10). El proceso permite la lixiviación de minerales difíciles de lixiviar, incluyendo el oro, y puede producir uno o más metales de alta pureza.
