Abstract

La invención se refiere a un polvo de sulfuro de litio altamente reactivo, de alta pureza, de flujo libre y libre de tierra que tiene un tamaño de partícula promedio entre 250 y 1500 µm y áreas de superficie BET entre 1 y 100 m2/g. La invención, además, se refiere a un proceso para su preparación, donde, en una primera etapa, monohidrato de hidróxido de litio se calienta en una unidad de temperatura controlada a una reacción de temperatura entre 150°C y 450°C en ausencia de aire y se hace pasar un gas inerte sobre o a través de este, hasta que el agua residual de contenido de cristalización del hidróxido de litio formado es menor que 5 % en peso y, en una segunda etapa, el hidróxido de litio anhidro formado en la primera etapa se mezcla, se desborda o atraviesa mediante una fuente de azufre gaseoso del grupo que consiste en sulfuro de hidróxido, sulfuro elemental, disulfuro de carbono, mercaptanos o nitruros de azufre.
