Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a una unidad de purificación (200) que es capaz de separar el MMA sin refinar de las impurezas ligeras y pesadas para obtener una alta calidad del MMA, adecuado para producir metacrilato de polimetilo (PMMA) de un grado óptimo. La unidad (200) comprende dos columnas de destilación (210, 250) en serie, alimentadas con una mezcla que va a ser destilada en su parte intermedia, para separar cada columna en dos partes superior (213, 253) e inferior (212, 252), la primera columna de destilación (210) que es alimentada con el MMA prelavado sin refinar, y la segunda columna de destilación (25) que es alimentada con la corriente del líquido destilado que contiene MMA, separada de las impurezas ligeras, surgida desde el fondo de la primera columna de destilación (210). La parte superior (213) de la primera columna de destilación (210) está conectada a un sistema de extracción lateral (220), capaz de minimizar el contenido de MMA en las impurezas ligeras que fluyen hacia arriba de la primera columna (210).
