Abstract

Se proveen un aparato y un proceso para mejorar la separación de asfaltenos de hidrocarburos pesados o betún con un proceso de baja complejidad mediante transferencia de masa utilizando solvente y flujos a contracorriente, con tres secciones: una zona superior de separación de DAO/asfalteno sólido, una zona media de mezcla y segregación de solvente y una zona baja de clarificación. El solvente mezclado con hidrocarburos pesados forma una alimentación de proceso que se introduce en la zona superior del recipiente de proceso y se expone a contracorriente a solvente eliminando DAO de partículas de asfaltenos sólidos en la alimentación, las partículas caen a través de la zona media y se mezclan con solvente introducido, tal solvente introducido segrega solución rica en DAO en la zona superior (para extracción de esa zona) de mezclas ricas en solvente en la zonas media de mezcla e inferior de clarificación. Los Flujos de solventes y el movimiento del precipitado son controlados para optimizar la transferencia de masa en el proceso, dando por resultado una alta recuperación de DAO y producto de asfaltenos seco y sólido.
