Abstract

La invencion describe un metodo para producir (-alcoxi-(-hidroxi-polialquilenglicoles puros, creando pequenas impurezas del producto en (-(-di-hidroxipolialquilenglicoles de peso molecular alto; dicho metodo se base en el uso de alcoholes iniciadores de alto peso molecular de la siguiente estructura general R2-(OCH2CHR)kOH, en donde R2 representa un radical alquilo que comprende entre 1 y 4 atomos de C, preferiblemente R2 = CH3, k representa un numero entre 1 y 10, preferiblemente entre 1 y 4, y R representa H, CH3 o un radical alquilo que comprende entre 2 y 4 atomos de C, preferiblemente R = H, CH3; el uso de los alcoholes iniciadores citados permite que la mezcla de un catalizador basico y un alcohol iniciador se seque de tal modo que tenga un contenido de agua muy bajo, y de esta manera producir concentraciones muy bajas de impurezas (-(-di-hidroxi-polialquilenglicoles no deseadas.
