Abstract

Claims (7)

  1. 매체 스트리머에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 비디오 프리젠테이션(video presentation)의 디지탈 표시(a digital representation)를 저장하는 대량 장치(madd storage)를 포함하는 적어도 하나의 저장 노드와; 다수의 통신 노드내의 각 통신 노드가, 다수의 통신 노드로부터 비디오 프리젠테이션의 디지탈 표시를 수신하는, 상기 적어도 하나의 저장 노드의 출력부(an output)에 접속된 적어도 하나의 입력(input port) 포트를 구비하며, 상기 다수의 통신 노드중 각 노드는 또한 다수의 출력 포트를 포함하고, 디지탈 표시의 사용자(a consumer of digital representation)에게 데이타 스트림(a datd stream)으로서 디지탈 표시를 전송할 수 있는 상기 다수의 출력 포트(output port)중 개별적인 하나의 포트를 포함하며, 상기 다수의 출력 포트중 개별적인 하나의 포트는 디지탈 표시의 전송 이전에, 디지틀리 표시의 일 부분을 버퍼링(buffering)하는 연관된 데이타 버퍼를 포함하는 상기 다수의 통신 노드로서, 상기 다수의 통신 노드내의 각 통신노드는 또한, 상기 데이타 버퍼들중의 개별적인 하나의 버퍼에 대한 스케쥴링을 위한 스케쥴러(scheduler) 및 상기 데이타 버퍼의 개별적인 한 버퍼내에 저장하는 디지탈 표시의 다음 순차적인 부분(next sequential portion)를 위한 적어도 하나의 저장노드에 대한 판독 요구 (a read request)를 포함하고, 상기 데이타 버퍼의 특정 개별 버퍼(a particular in-dividual one of said data buffers)에 대한 각각의 판독 요구는, 사전결정된 시간(a predertermined time)에서 스케쥴되어, 요구되는 다음 순차적인 부분이 판독 요구가 스케쥴된 데이타 버퍼와 연관된 출력 포트로부터 전송되는 것이 요구되는 시간 이전에 디지탈 표시의 요구되는 다음 순차적인 부분이 요구 통신 노드(a requesting node)에 사용가능하게 되며, 상기 적어도 하나의저장 노드는 또한, 대량 저장 장치에 대한 판독 요구를 스케쥴하는 스케쥴러를 포함하여, 다수의 통신 노드중 하나의 노드로부터 다음 순차적인 부분에 대한 판독 요구를 수신하는, 적어도 하나의 저장 노드이전에, 판독 요구는 스케쥴되어 디지탈 표시의 다음 스케쥴부분이 출력에 사용사능하게 되는 다수의 통신 노드를 포함하는 매체 스트리머.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 통신 노드중의 상기 개별적인 한 노드의 스케쥴러는 판독 요구를 스케쥴하여, 상기 다수의 통신 노드중 개별적인 하나의 통신 노드로부터의 단지 하나의 판독 요구가 임의의 주어진 시간에 적어도 하나의 저장 노드에서 미정으로 (pending)존재하게 되는 매체 스트리머.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 다수의 통신 노드중 상기 개별적인 하나의 노드의 스케쥴러는, 특정 출력 포트(a paticular output port)와 연관된 상기 데이타 버퍼의 저장 능력(a stprage capacity)에 의해 분할된 상기 특정 출력 포트에 의해, 데이타 스트림 출력 (a data stream output)의 데이타 전송 속도(a data rate)와 동일한 주파수(a frequency)로 상기 특정 출력 포트에 대한 판독 요구를 스케쥴하는 매체 스트리머.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 대량 저장 장치는 다수의 디스크 장치(a plurality of disk units)로 구성되며, 디지탈 표시의 개별적인 하나의 순차적 부분은 상기 다수의 디스크 장치의 적어도 몇몇의 상이한 장치상에서 스트라이프 세트(a set pf stripe)로서 저장되고, 상기 저장 노드는 스트라이프 세트와 연관된 데이타 버퍼를 포함하며, 상기 적어도 하나의 저장 노드의 상기 스케쥴러는, 스트라이프 세트와 연관된 데이타 버퍼의 저장 능력(a storage capacity)에 의해 분할된 상응하는 스트라이프 세트로부터 데이타가 판독되는 속도와 동일한 주파수로 상기 디지탈 표시의 특정한 하나에 대한 판독 요구를 스케쥴하는 매체 스트리머.
  5. 매체 스트리머에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 비디오 프리젠테이션의 디지탈표시를 저정하는 적어도 하나의 디스크 장치를 포함하는 적어도 하나의 저장 노드로서, 상기 적어도 하나의 디스크 장치는 적어도 상기 디스크 장치로부터의 데이타 판독을 저장하는 연관된 데이타 버퍼를 갖는 적어도 하나의 저장 노드와; 다수의 통신 노드내에 각 통신 노드가, 다수의 통신 노드로부터 비디오 프리젠테이션이 디지탈 표시의 순차적인 일 부분을 수신하는 상기 적어도 하나의 저장 노드의 출력에 연결된 적어도 하나의 입력 포트를 갖는 다수의 통신 노드로서, 상기 다수의 통신 노드중 각 노드는 , 다수의 출력 포트를 포함하고, 데이타 스트림의 사용자에게 상기 데이타 스트림으로서 디지탈 표시의 전송을 수행할 수 있는 상기 다수의 출력 포트중 개별적인 하나의 포트를 포함하며, 상기 다수의 출력 포트중 개별적인 하나의 포트는, 적어도 상기 디지탈 표시의 상기 순차적인 일부분을 전송이 이루어지기 전에 버퍼링하는 연관된 포트 버퍼를 구비하는 다수의 통신 노드와; 상기 적어도 하나의 저장 노드와 상기 다수의 통신 노드의 입력 포트를 제어가능하게 상호 연결하는 회로 스위치를 포함하되, 상기 적어도 하나의 디스크 저장 장치가, 상기 다수의 출력 포트중 각 포트로부터의 상기 디지탈 표시의 전송을 보장하도록 구성되어, 실질적으로 등시 데이타 스트림(isochronous data stream)이 상기 전송된 디지탈 표시의 각 개별적인 하나로부터 발생되는 매체 스트리머.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 적어도 하나의 디스크 저장 장치는 최대 허용가능 섹터 크기(a maximum allow-able sector size)를 갖도록 포맷(format)되고, 상기 연관된 데이타 버퍼는 세스먼트(segment)로 분할되고, 상기 각각의 세그먼트는 적어도 상기 디지탈 표시의 상기 개별적인 한 부분의 크기와 동일한 저장 능력을 구비하며, 상기 연관된 데이타 버퍼는, 상기 회로 스위치를 통해 상기 다수의 통신 노드중 개별적인 한 노드의 입력 포트로의 접속을 시도하도록 프로그램되고, 상기 연관된 데이타 버퍼의 각 세그먼트가 상기 디스크 저장장치로부터 판독되는 디지탈 표시의 일 부분의 사전결정된 양으로 저장되는 환경에서, 상기 사전결정된 양은 자신의 입력 포트와 연관되는 통신 노드 출력 포트의 즉시 전송 데이타 전송 속도의 기능(function)이 되고, 또한 데이타가 상기 디스크 저장 장치로부터 상기 세그먼트로 판독되는 데이타 전송 속도를 유지할 수 있는 기능(function)이 되도록, 상기 적어도 하나의 디스크 저장 장치를 구성하는 매체 스트리머.
  7. 제6항에 있어서, 상기 적어도 하나의 디스크 저장 장치는 또한, 임의의 열적연관 디스크 저장 장치 기록/판독 헤드 보상(any thermally-related disk dtorage unit read/write head compensation)이 발생하지만, 하나의 기록/판독 헤드상에서는 동시에 발생하지 않도록 구성되는 매체 스트리머.
