Abstract
표시소자 혹은 전기광학소자에 사용되는 액정재료로서 유용한 일반식(Ⅰ)
〔식중의 기호는 명세서에 기재된 바와같다〕로 표시되는 신규의 광학활성 테트라히드로피란유도체〔예를들면(2R,5R,6R)-테트라히드로-6-트리플루오르메틸-2-헥실옥시-5-(4″-헥실옥시비페닐-4′-카르보닐옥시)피란; (2R,5R,6R)-테트라히드로-6-트리플루오르메틸-2-헥실옥시-5-(4″-헥실옥시비페닐-4′-카르보닐옥시)피란등을 들수 있다〕그것을 함유하는 액정조성물 및 액정소자이다.
본 발명은 광학활성 테트라히드로 피란 유도체는 특히 조성물로한 경우에 고속응답성을 향상시킬 수가 있고, 큰 자연발생 분극을 유기하는 강유전성 액정의 배합성분으로서 유용한다.

Claims (10)
- 일반식(Ⅰ)

- 〔식중 Rf는 탄소수 1또는 2의 플루오르알킬기를 나타내고, R1은 탄소수 3-20의 곧은 사슬 또는 분지사슬 알킬기를 나타내고, R2, R3및 R4는 각각 독립적으로 수소 또는 탄소수 1-15의 곧은사슬 또는 분지사슬 알킬기, 탄소수 2-15의 알케닐기 또는 탄소수 7-10의 알랄킬기를 나타내고, X1은 -COO-, -OCO-, -O-또는 단결합을 나타내고, X2는 -COO-, -OCO-, -CH2O-, -OCH2- 또는 단결합을 나타내고, X3은 -COO-, -CH2O-, 또는 -O-를 나타내고, X4는 -O-또는 -OCO-를 나타내고, *는 비대칭 탄소를 나타내고, A및 B는 각각 독립적으로

- 를 나타내고, n은 0또는 1을 나타낸다〕로 표시되는 광학활성 테트라히드로 피란유도체.
- (a) 제1항에 기재된 광학활성 테트라히드로피란 유도체를 적어도 1종과, (b) 상기한 (a)이외의 카일라 스메틱 C상(smC*상)을 갖는 화합물 혹은 혼합물 및/또는, (c)(a)이외의 스메틱 C상(smC상)을 갖는 화합물 혹은 혼합물로된 액정조성물.
- (a) 자연발생분극의 방향이 동등하고, 또한 콜레스테릭상(N*상)의 나선피치의 방향이 다른 제1항에 기재된 광학활성 테트라히드로 피란유도체를 적어도 2종과, (b) 상기한 (a)이외의 카이랄스메틱상(smC*상)을 갖는 화합물 혹은 혼합물 및/또는, (c)그 (a)이외의 스메틱C상(smC상)을 갖는 화합물 혹은 혼합물로된 액정조성물.
- 제1항에 기재된 광학활성 테트라히드로피란 유도체의 적어도 2종으로된 액정조성물.
- 제1항에 기재된 광학활성 테트라히드로 피란 유도체 또는 제2항 내지 제4항의 어느것인가에 기재된 액정조성물을 한쌍의 전극기판간에 배치해서 된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정소자.
