상기 표 5에 나타난 바와 같이, 본 발명의 실시예 1에 따라 얻어진 약재 16종의 추출물은 5-알파환원효소의 효능이 전혀 나타나지 않아 5-알파환원효소의 억제효능이 뛰어남을 확인할 수 있었던 반면, 대조군인 용안육 추출물, 적소두 추출물, 및 산조인 추출물에서는 사용된 농도와 무관하게 5-알파환원효소의 억제효능이 없음을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 본 발명의 16종의 천연 추출물 모두 기존에 알려진 양성대조군(positive control)인 고삼과 마찬가지로 5-알파환원효소의 억제효능이 뛰어남을 알 수 있었다.

C57BL/6N 마우스가 두 번째 퇴행기(catagen) 시기로 진입하는 생후 7주된 마우스의 털을 완전히 제모한 후, 본 발명의 조성물과 대조물질을 마우스 10마리씩 150 ㎕씩 1일 1회 연속하여 5주간 도포하였다. 시간의 경과에 따른 모발 생장 촉진 정도를 육안으로 비교하여 결론을 도출하였다(도 5). 음성대조군으로는 모발 생장 촉진 효과가 없는 80% 에탄올을 사용하였고 양성대조군으로는 3% 미녹시딜을 사용하였다. 하기 표 6은 시간 경과에 따른 모발의 생장정도를 육안 관찰을 통해 비교 분석한 표이다.
