Claims (4)
- 액정층을 협지하는 한 쌍의 기판으로 이루어지는 IPS 모드로써 구동되는 액정셀과, 해당 액정셀의 양측에 직교상태로 배치되는 한 쌍의 편광판을 갖는 투과형 액정표시장치에 있어서,해당 액정셀의 시인측 및 입사측의 양측의 편광판으로서, 편광판의 흡수축과 위상차필름의 지상축이 직교 또는 평행하게 되도록 적층한 광학필름이 배치되고,상기 광학필름은, 상기 편광판이 편광자의 양면에 투명보호필름을 적층하여 이루어지고, 해당 투명보호필름 면내의 면내 굴절률이 최대가 되는 방향을 X 축, X 축에 수직인 방향을 Y 축, 필름의 두께방향을 Z 축으로 하고, 각각의 축방향의 550 nm 에서의 굴절률을 nx1, ny1, nz1, 필름의 두께 d1 (nm) 로 한 경우,면내 위상차 Re1=(nx1-ny1)×d1 이 10 nm 이하이고,또한 두께방향 위상차 Rth={(nx1+ny1)/2-nz1}×d1 이 30 ∼ 100 nm 이고,상기 위상차필름이, 해당 필름 면내의 면내 굴절률이 최대가 되는 방향을 X 축, X 축에 수직인 방향을 Y 축, 필름의 두께방향을 Z 축으로 하고, 각각의 축방향의 550 nm 에서의 굴절률을 nx2, ny2, nz2, 필름의 두께 d2 (nm) 로 한 경우,Nz=(nx2-nz2)/(nx2-ny2) 로 표시되는 Nz 값이 0.1 ∼ 0.8 을 만족하고,또한 면내 위상차 Re2=(nx2-ny2)×d2 가 60 ∼ 300 nm 이고,무인가상태에서 액정셀 내의 액정물질의 이상광 굴절률방향과 입사측의 상기 광학필름의 편광판의 흡수축이 평행상태에 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 투과형 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,550 nm 에서의 위상차값이 전압 무인가 시에 230∼360 nm 인 IPS 모드의 액정셀을 사용한 IPS 모드 액정표시장치에 적용하는 특징으로 하는 투과형 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광학필름은, 편광판의 흡수축과 위상차필름의 지상축이 평행하게 되도록 적층한 것을 특징으로 하는 투과형 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,입사측의 셀기판에 배치된 광학필름의 위상차필름의 면내 위상차 Re2 가, 시인측의 셀기판에 배치된 광학필름의 위상차필름의 면내 위상차 Re2 보다도 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 투과형 액정표시장치.
