Description
Claims (28)
- 봉함 부재(sealing member)로 결합되어 있는 한 쌍의 기판들과 상기 기판들 사이에 삽입되어 있는 액정을 포함하는 액정 디스플레이 장치를 조립하는 방법에 있어서,상기 기판들 사이의 상기 봉함 부재 영역에 다수의 스페이서들(spacers)을 배열하는 단계;각 기판의 외표면상에 프레임을 상기 봉함 부재와 정렬되도록 배치하는 단계, 및디스플레이 영역에 해당하는 범위(region)가 실질적으로 압력을 받지 않고 균일한 셀 간극을 얻을 수 있도록 각 프레임에 압력을 인가하는 단계를 포함하는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 프레임은 상기 액정 디스플레이 장치의 상기 봉함 부재의 형태인 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 프레임은 고무, 플라스틱, 금속 및 합성물(composite), 또는 압력 전달 매체(pressure transfer media) 역할을 할 수 있는 임의의 유형의 물질로 되어 있는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 프레임은 소정의 압력 전달 요건을 충족하도록 견고한 구조(solid structure)를 갖는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 압력 인가 단계는 기계적 압축 가스 또는 진공 장치에 의해 압력을 인가하는 단계를 포함하는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 배열 단계는 다수의 봉함 스페이서들을 상기 기판들 사이의 상기 봉함 부재 영역 내에 배열하는 단계를 포함하고,상기 디스플레이 영역에 다수의 디스플레이 스페이서들을 제공하는 단계를 더 포함하는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 봉함 스페이서들은 고밀도로 분포된 스페이서들(higher density spacers)이고 상기 디스플레이 스페이서들은 저밀도로 분포된 스페이서들(lower density spacers)인 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 스페이서들은 볼(ball) 또는 기둥(post)으로 형성되어 있는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 스페이서들은 포토리소그래픽 수단에 의해 제조되는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 한 쌍의 기판들 중 하나는 결정질 실리콘, 다결정질 실리콘, 또는 비결정질 실리콘로 만들어진 박막 트랜지스터들(thin film transistors)와 같은 액티브 매트릭스 소자들(active matrix elements)을 포함하는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정 디스플레이 장치는 수동-매트릭스-어드레싱되는(passive-matrix-addressed) LCD인 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 기판들은 실리콘, 유리, 수정, 플라스틱, 유전체 또는 금속으로 되어 있는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정 디스플레이 장치는 단일-셀 조립체거나 다수의 액정 셀들을 포함하는 큰 기판들이 이용되는 다중-셀 조립체인 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 봉함 부재는 열, UV 또는 UV 열 봉함제(sealants)를 포함하는 액정 디스플레이 장치 조립 방법.
