図4Aは、図1に示す角形二次電池1の電池容器2の長手方向に沿う断面において、電流遮断部60およびその近傍を示す拡大断面図である。図4Bは、図4Aに示す接合部24dの拡大断面図である。図5は、図4Aに示す各部材の分解斜視図である。
前述の図8Aおよび図8Bに示す例では、ダイヤフラム68の側壁部68cは、電池蓋3に平行な面に対して90°以下の角度で傾斜していたが、図9Aおよび図9Bに示す変形例1のダイヤフラム68Aは、側壁部68cが電池蓋3に平行な面に垂直になっている。すなわち、側壁部68cの電池蓋3に平行な面に対する傾斜角度は、90°であってもよい。
図10Aおよび図10Bに示す変形例2のダイヤフラム68Bは、縁部68bと突起部68aとの間に側壁部68cを有さず、縁部68bから突起部68aまで連続する滑らかな曲面状の椀形に形成されている。これにより、図8Aおよび図8Bに示すダイヤフラム68と同様の効果を得られるだけでなく、ダイヤフラム68Bの電池蓋3に垂直な方向の寸法を減少させることができる。
図11Aおよび図11Bに示す変形例3のダイヤフラム68Cは、平面形状が直線部分を有さない楕円形に形成されている。このように、ダイヤフラム68Cの平面形状を滑らかな曲線のみで構成することで、電池容器2の内圧が所定の圧力に達してダイヤフラム68Cが反転するように変形する際に、直線部分と曲線部分との接続部における曲率の急峻な変化がないことから、ダイヤフラム68Cの変形が容易になる。したがって、ダイヤフラム68Cが変形する際に、接合部24dの周囲の環状溝24cの底部の脆弱部を破断させやすくして、電流経路を確実に安定して遮断することができる。

- 捲回電極群に接続された集電板と、外部端子との間の電流経路に配置され、電池容器の内圧上昇によって該電流経路を遮断する電流遮断部を備えた角形二次電池であって、
前記電流遮断部は、頂部が前記集電板と電気的に接続され、縁部が前記外部端子と電気的に接続されているダイヤフラムを備え、前記ダイヤフラムは、前記電池容器の内方へ向く凸形状に形成されて平面視で前記電池容器の長手方向に延びる形状を有する
ことを特徴とする角形二次電池。 - 前記頂部に前記電池容器の内方へ向けて突出する突起部が設けられ、該突起部は平面視で前記長手方向に延びる形状を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の角形二次電池。

前記突起部は、少なくとも一部が前記環状溝の外側で前記開裂板に接していることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の角形二次電池。 - 前記環状溝は、前記長手方向に延びる環状に形成され、該長手方向に延びる部分の溝深さが他の部分の溝深さよりも深いことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の角形二次電池。
- 前記ダイヤフラムは、少なくとも前記突起部に隣接する部分が前記電池容器内方に向けて凸の曲面形状に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の角形二次電池。
- 前記ダイヤフラムは、前記電池容器の内方側から外方側に、前記突起部と、該突起部に隣接する天井部と、該天井部に隣接する側壁部とを有し、
前記天井部は、前記側壁部よりも傾斜が緩やかな曲面形状に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の角形二次電池。 - 前記ダイヤフラムの縁部に接合される導電板と、該導電板と前記外部端子とを接続する接続端子とを備え、
前記接続端子は、前記外部端子から延びて前記導電板を貫通した先端にかしめ部が設けられると共に前記ダイヤフラムと前記導電板との間の空間を前記電池容器の外部空間と連通させる貫通孔を有することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の角形二次電池。 - 前記開裂板の材料は、アルミニウムまたはアルミニウム合金であることを特徴とする請求項3から7のいずれか一項に記載の角形二次電池。
