Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect an engine by forcedly closing a control valve when a sensor for detecting overheat is abnormal in a system where during light load, the control valve is opened to reduce circulating water flow. CONSTITUTION:A load signal of an engine and a detection valve of a water level sensor 37 disposed in an upper tank 16 are input to CPU 40, and during light load, suction negative pressure is introduced into an actuator 31 through a three-way solenoid valve 34 to open a butterfly valve 28 provided at a communicating portion 27 between a cooling water inlet passage 9 and an outlet passage 11. Accordingly, both the inlet passage 9 and the outlet passage 10 are closed to reduce the circulating water flow supplied to the engine. When the water level sensor 37 detects a decrease in radiator water quantity, the butterfly valve 28 is closed even during light load to secure the circulating water flow to the engine.
