Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high output, by increasing the quantity of cooling water for an engine at its acceleration or under heavy load to lower the temperature of the engine. CONSTITUTION:An outlet port 6 fitted with a thermovalve 5 and provided on the outlet part 4 of the cooling water jacket of an engine 1 is connected to the upper tank 8 of radiator 3 through a cooling water drain passage 7. The lower tank 9 of the radiator 3 is connected to the inlet part of the cooling water jacket through a cooling water return passage 10 and a cooling water pump 11. A bypass 13 for the thermovalve 5 is provided between the outlet part 4 of the cooling water jacket and the cooling water drain passage 7. A flow control valve 14, which is related to the load on the engine 1, is installed in the bypass 13. The flow control valve 14 is connected to an intake manifold so that the valve 14 is opened when negative intake pressure has intensified.
