Abstract

PURPOSE: To get good mixing of flow-back gas with fresh combustion gas and to enable the gas to flow back in large quantity, by connecting the exhaust gas recirculating passage with each air inlet port of multicylinder internal combustion engine and by opening simultaneously the top of its passage tangentially in the neibouring position at the backside of the bevel part of each air inlet valve.
CONSTITUTION: A common exhaust pipe 14 of a multicylinder engine 1 is connected to an air inlet system with a gas recirculating passage 18, 20 having an exhaust gas recirculation controlling valve 19. Controlling valve 19 is on-off controlled by the negative pressure in the air inlet pipe installed close to a throttle valve 13. Flow- back passage 18 is connected to a connecting passage 15 which is formed underneath each air inlet manifold 11 and furthermore, this connecting passage 15 opens 17 to inlet-port 7 located in a neighbouring position of the backside of a bevel part of each inlet valve 8 via connecting passage 16, constructed in each cylinder head 3. Futher, its opening part 17 is formed tangentially against inlet valve 8 and the flow back gas is introduced into combustion chamber with a swirly motion.
