Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the heat resistance and wearing resistance of a top part by making the Si content of the Al alloy different in each of the body part of a piston and the top part and using Si in a specific rate. CONSTITUTION:As for a piston for internal combustion engine which is made of Al-Si alloy, the Si content in the Al alloy for each of the body part 1 and the top part 2 is made different. In other words, the body part 1 is made of the Al alloy containing 1-16% Si in weight, and the top part 2 is made of Al alloy containing 25-60% Si in the part in 0.1-3.5mm in depth from the surface. Preferably, the body part 1 is made of the Al alloy which consists of Si: 1-16%, Ni: 2% or less, Cu: 0.5-6.5%, Mg: 0.05-2.5%, Fe: 3% or less, and Al as remainder in weight. While, the top part 2 is made of the Al alloy consisting of Si: 25-60%, Ni: 2% or less, Cu: 0.5-5%, Mg: 0.05-2%, Fe: 0.1-8%, and Al as remainder in weight.
