Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce Ni content and to improve a wear resistance and rough surface resistance by forming an outer shell layer of composite roll deposited and integrated with three layers of a specified composition using a graphite crystallizing high Cr cast iron material containing specified contents of Cu and Si. CONSTITUTION:The outer shell layer 1 of the composite roll is formed by the high Cr cast iron material consisting of by weight 2.0-3.4% C, 2.0-4.5% Ni, 2.0-3.4% Si, 5-10% Cr, 0.5-1.5% Mn, 0.4-2.0% Mo, <=0.1% P, <=0.08% S, 0.5-4.0% Cu and/or Sn, and the balance Fe and depositing a graphite in its structure. Further the intermediate layer 2 is formed by an adamite material consisting of by weight 1.0-2.5% C, <=1.5% Ni, 0.5-1.5% Si, 2-5% Cr, 0.5-1.5% Mn, <=0.5% Mo, <=0.1% P, <=0.1% S, and the balance Fe.
