Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the fatigue strength, seizure resistance and wear resistance of the titled expander cone by forming it with spheroidal graphite cast iron having specific contents of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo and Mg. CONSTITUTION:The expander cone is formed with, by weight, 2.5-4.0% C, 1.50-3.0% Si, <=1.0% Mn, 0.5-2.5% Ni, <=0.5% Cr, 0.20-2.0% Mo, 0.03-0.10% Mg and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. By this compsn., seizure resistance equal to or above that of flaky graphite cast iron can be obtd. The sulfering treatment of penetrating sulfur and nitrogen to the surface layer part of said expander cone to generate the compound with iron is subjected thereto, by which the seizure resistance can drastically be improved.
