Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve simply and economically the mechanical properties of a cast iron casting with an inoculant by adding cast iron chips contg. a graphite spheroidizing agent, e.g. ductile cast iron chips to molten cast ionn before casting.
CONSTITUTION: Cast iron chips contg. a graphite spheroidizing agent, e.g. ductile cast iron chips are charged into molten cast iron before casting to improve the properties of a cast iron casting. The amt. of the chips charged is 5W20% to the iron. The ductile cast iron consists of, by wt., C; 3.0W4.2%, Si; 1.5W3.2%, Mn≤ 0.8%, P≤0.08%, S≤0.03%, at least one of Mg, Y, Ca, Y, Ce and misch metal; 0.01W0.5% and the balance Fe essentially.
