Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and polishing brightness characteristics well-balancedly at respectively high levels to a hard alloy to be obtained, by controlling the grain size of WC as a principal component and incorporating specific amounts of Ni and Cr. CONSTITUTION:A hard alloy containing, by weight, 8-35% Ni and 0.5-10% Cr and composed principally of WC of <=1mum grain size is prepared by a powder metallurgical method. By the above constitution, the hard alloy having mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and polishing brightness characteristics well- balancedly at respectively high levels can be obtained. Accordingly, this alloy is suitable for watchband, watchcase, etc.
