CONSTITUTION:A build up layer 3 made of titanium is formed on the seat surface 2 of a titanium alloy valve body 1. Hard ceramics or intermetallic compound powder is dispersed in the built up layer 3 by means such as TIG method, laser method, PTA method, soft plasma or the like. Thus, satisfactory hardness not to be softened by heat generated by impact with seat material on the cylinder head side can be secured on the seat surface so as to improve the durability.
