Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent emission at a lead drawing position by using a transparent electrode layer to form a flat electrode without the formation of a display pattern and providing another electrode layer inside a display pattern window which is formed in an insulation layer and next by insulating the lead drawing wire layer from an insulation layer for the forming of the pattern window. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode 2 is formed flatly on a glass plate 1, and an EL luminous layer 4 interposed between the insulation layers is piled on the electrode 2, and an insulation layer 7 is formed more thickly than the layer 5. A display pattern window 8 is formed of a tapered surface 7a in the layer 7. An electrode layer 6 and a lead drawing wire layer 9 are formed inside the window 8. The lead wire layer 9 is disposed on a side 7b and provided with dielectric isolation by the insulation layer 7. A voltage E is applied across the electrode layer 2 and the electrode 6 and the lead 7. Unless the applied voltage is so high that a part corresponding to the lead wire 9 becomes luminous, only the luminous layer 4's part between the electrodes 6 and 2 becomes luminous, and an electrode step difference part is removed to prevent dielectric breakdown.
