Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the electrical isolation of each image electrode, by arranging a control electrode group having long arranging pitch of the electrode chip in the proximity of an electron source while arranging another electrode group having short arranging pitch of the electrode chip at the side of fluorescent screen. CONSTITUTION:A supporting board 60 having a hole section 60a is fixed through a spacer 59 to the back substrate while furthermore a lead frame 62 is provided for the purpose to hold a thermal cathode 63. An insulated supporting board 65 and a control electrode group 66 are formed on the thermal cathode 63. The control electrode group 66 is used as a select electrode where hole sections 66a having slightly smaller diameter than that of the insulated supporting board 65 are provided at the position corresponding with the effective section of the thermal cathode 63. An insulated supporting board 67, control electrode group 68, insulated supporting boared 69, electrode 70 and fluorescent stripe layers 73-75 are provided on the control electrode group 66. A hole section 68a is formed on the control electrode group 66 and used as the image electrode.
