Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明は、サーマルヘッドに関し、特に発熱体が形成さ
れたサーマルヘッド基板と外部接続用のプリント回路基
板がリード端子により接続された構造のサーマルヘッド
に関する。
〔従来の技術〕
従来、この種のサーマルヘッドにおいて発熱体が形成さ
れたサーマルヘッド基板と外部接続用のプリント回路基
板の接続方法としては、リードフレーム端子を用いたハ
ンダ接続、フレキシブル基板を用いたゴム圧接がある。
〔発明が解決しようとする問題点〕
上琲した従来のサーマルへ・ノド、特に後者は組立が容
易であるが、接触不良を生じやすいことと、高価格とな
る等の欠点がある。しかし、いずれの接続の場合でもプ
リント回路基板は接続端子数が多いため、単層の回路パ
ターンでは形成することが難かしく、両面あるいは多層
配線基板とする必要がある。また記録電流接地パターン
には、最大数Ａ〜十数Ａの電流が流れるため、幅広いパ
ターンを設ける必要があり、プリント回路基板を小さく
できないという問題もある。このため、従来の技術では
、プリント回路基板が高価格となり、また小型化できな
いという欠点がある。
本発明の目的は、上述した従来の欠点を除去し、プリン
ト回路基板の接続端子数を減少させプリント回路基板の
単層配線化を容易にし、プリント配線基板の共通端子用
の幅広い配線パターンを必要とすることがなくなり、小
型化が達成できるサーマルヘッドを提供することにある
。
〔問題点を解決するための手段〕
本発明のサーマルヘッドは、発熱体が形成されたサーマ
ルヘッド基板と外部接続用のプリント回路基板がリード
端子により接続された構造で、端子フレーム部が共通端
子となることを特徴とするものである。
〔実施例〕
次に、本発明の実施例について図面を参照して説明する
。第１図は本発明の一実施例の要部を示す模式的平面図
である。
第１図においてサーマルヘッド基板１は、セラミック基
板等の上に発熱体１１が形成され、駆動用ＩＣ１２が複
数個搭載されているものである。
プリント回路基板２はコネクタ２１で外部へ接続され、
各制御信号等が配線されたものであり、サーマルヘッド
基板１とともに放熱板３に設置されている。
ここで、サーマルヘッド基板とプリント回路基板の接続
はリードフレーム端子によりハンダ接続されるが、特徴
的なことはリード端子４１の全てがフレーム部４２より
切断され、プリント回路基板に接続されるのでなく、あ
る共通の端子がフレーム部により接続されていることで
ある。このため、プリント回路基板に接続される端子数
は、フレーム部により共通端子となった数だけ少なくな
っている。また、先に述べたように記録電流接地パター
ンには大電流が流れるため幅広い共通端子用のパターン
を設ける必要があったがリードのフレーム部は電流容量
が大きいので従来の幅広パターンに比べ大幅に小型化で
き、かつ接続の信頼性も向上する。
〔発明の効果〕
以上説明したように本発明は、フレーム部を共通端子と
することによりプリント回路基板に接続する端子数を減
らすことができ、プリント回路基板を単層配線で形成す
ることを容易にする効果がある。
また、フレーム部を記録電流接地用の共通端子とするこ
とによって、プリント回路基板が幅広いパターンを必要
としなくなり、小型化できるという効果があると共に接
続の信頼性を向上させることができる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. （１）発熱体が形成されたサーマルヘッド基板と、外部
    接続用のプリント回路基板がリード端子により接続され
    た構造のサーマルヘッドにおいて、端子フレーム部を共
    通端子としたことを特徴とするサーマルヘッド。
  2. （２）端子フレーム部が記録電流接地用の共通端子であ
    る特許請求の範囲第（１）項記載のサーマルヘッド。
