Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 く技術分野〉 本発明は新規な液晶表示素子の製造方法に関する。
〈従来技術〉 従来、特に表示パターン形状が微小であるドツトマトリ
クスパターン等の液晶表示素子の製造に際し、ガラス基
板上に透明導電膜を全面に被着して次に所定表示パター
ン形状にエツチング処理してパターン電極を得る場合、
パターン間にゴミ等の異物が付着しているとその付着物
の下の透明導電膜がエツチング除去されずに残ることが
あった。
ｉ・、第２１．図にその状態を示す。１はガラス基板で
あり、２はエツチングによって表示パターン形状に形成
された透明導電膜（どれを表示パターンという。）、３
はエツチング処理前にパターン間に付着したゴミがあっ
た為にエツチング除去されずに残った透明導電膜（これ
を不要パターンという。）である。
同図の如く不要パターン３の存在によって表示パターン
２，２開がショートされ正常な表示ができなくなってい
る。
く目的〉 本発明は上記不要パターンを除く為の新規な手法を提供
することを目的とする。
〈実施例〉 以下、本発明に係る一実施例について説明する。
第１図は本発明に係る一実施例の製法を示す説明図であ
る。ｌは上記不要パターンか残存するガラス基板であり
、４はレーザ装置（具体的には日本電気（株）製のレー
ザトリマ（形名５Ｌ４８４Ｃ。
５Ｌ４８５Ａ、５Ｌ４１６Ａ）か使用可能）である。こ
のレーザ装置４を用すて上記不要パターン３を除去すれ
ば正確なパターンに修正することができる。
く効果〉 本発明によれば製造過程においてゴミ等が基板上に付着
しても電極パターン形成後に正確なパターンに修正する
ことができるものである。

例を示す説明図、第２図は液晶表示素子の一部平面図を
