Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the cooling speed in a sintering process and to enhance the reduction powdering resistance at low temp. by using 2CaO.SiO2 as part of a lime source as secondary starting material for sintering so as to ensure gas permeability in a sintered layer.
CONSTITUTION: 2CaO.SiO2 and silica sand are added to limestone so as to make the basicity CaO/SiO2 of sintered ore 1.7W1.8 and the SiO2 5.5W5.7. Iron ore and coke are blended with the prepared lime source as secondary starting material and sintered. Said 2CaO.SiO2 is obtd. by adding silica to electric furnace slag or cement clinker and calcining them with cement clinker.
