Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce iron oxide, to iron, contained in dust discharged in sintering iron ore by utilizing the dust as a hot iron desiliconizing agent and to recycle desiliconization slag as SiO2 and CaO sources for manufacturing sintered ore.
CONSTITUTION: Sintering dust discharged in manufacturing sintered ore as starting material for a blast furnace contains about 60% Fe2O3 and about 20% CaO. By making use of this dust as a hot iron desiliconizing agent as it is, Si in hot iron is oxidized to SiO2 with the Fe2O3, which is simultaneously reduced to Fe and enters the hot iron. Desiliconization slag formed at this time is based on SiO2 and CaO, so it is recycled as starting material for SiO2 and CaO required in manufacturing sintered ore from fine ore. Thus, the sintering dust can be utilized as it is without processing, and the hot iron desiliconization slag which was thrown away formerly can be recycled effectively.
