Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a self-fluxing synthetic slag making agent capable of extending the application range of slag and facilitating dephosphorization and desulfurization by blending CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and MgO in a predetermined ratio followed by calcination and grain size conditioning to a suitable size.
CONSTITUTION: Lime stone, dolomite (raw), bauxite, kaolin, etc. are blended so that the following compsn. is obtd.: CaO 60W70%, SiO2 0W5.5%, Al2O3 8W13%, esp. 8W12%, Fe2O3 5W25% and MgO 6W12%. This blend is calcined and granulated to a suitable size to prepare a self-fluxing synthetic slag making agent for steel making in a converter, an open hearth, an electric furnace, etc. Using this agent tapping yield and blowing hitting rate can be enhanced besides the above characteristics are attained.
