Abstract

PURPOSE: A ground conditioner which utilizes byproducts obtained in the iron industry and has an excellent effect for improving compressive strength of soft ground, prepared by mixing screened blast furnace granulated slag, waste gas desulfurization gypsum and undersize quick lime.
CONSTITUTION: The following components (a), (b) and (c) are mixed so that the total is 100pts.wt. and the component (a) is present in an amount of at least 50pts.wt.: (a) 50W90pts.wt. of a material, surface area 2,000W4,000cm2/g, prepared by screening blast furnace slag produced in the iron industry, (b) 5W30 pts.wt. of waste gas desulfurization gypsum consisting mainly of gypsum dihydrate and prepared by collecting by lime, sulfur dioxide gas contained in waste gas produced from a combustion furnace or the like, and oxidizing the product, and (c) 5W30 pts.wt. of undersize quick lime (calculated as slaked lime) obtained as an undersize product, when quick lime prepared by calcining limestone is screened for the purpose of obtaining desired products.
