Abstract

PURPOSE:To spare a much power loss for performing a temperature detection of higher reliability by heating a glow plug by means of a semi-contuctor switch element and detecting temperatures of the preheated glow plug on the basis of a voltage drop in a current flowing through the plug while the semiconductor switch element is off. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor switch element 10 periodically performs an intermittent operation under the control of a controller 12. While the semiconductor switch element 10 is off, a detection of temp. of a glow plug 1 is performed in such a manner that after a certain current is fed from a constant current supply 11 to the glow plug 1, it shows a decrement in voltage correspondent to its temperature resistance characteristic and sends it to a controller 12 so as to compare the decrement with a voltage with respect to a preheating temperature preset. Bases on the comparison, an on or off control for the semiconductor switch element 10 is evolved.
