Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the influence of variations in power supply voltage to a sensor, by offsetting each other variations in heating power based on the fluctuations of a heater voltage and variations in a heating value due to self-heating of the sensor based on the fluctuations of a voltage applied thereto.
CONSTITUTION: The temperature of the sensor 1 has relation to the heating thereof by the heater 5 and the self-heating thereof by a voltage applied thereto. When the power supply voltage is varied, the voltage applied to the heater 5 and the voltage applied to a gas detecting unit 4 are varied. The heater voltage is varied in proportion to the power source voltage, while the voltage applied to the gas detecting unit 4 is varied in inverse proportion to the heater voltage by the operation of a voltage control unit 10. Accordingly, when tne heater voltage is increased due to the increase in the power supply voltage to cause the temperature of the sensor 1 to be increased, the voltage applied to the sensor 1 is decreased to cause the Joule heat based on self-heating thereof to be decreased. Thus, the heater voltage and the voltage applied to the sensor serve to offset variations in temperature of the sensor based on one of them against variations in temperature of the sensor based on the other.
