Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize the temperature of glow plugs, by detecting the temperature of glow plugs from the resistance of the same before the engine is started, and selectively feeding current via a resistance adapted for stable preheating of the glow plugs or current obtained by short-circuiting the resistance substantially.
CONSTITUTION: When the engine is started, a relay coil 3a is de-energized and the relay contact 3 is opened, so that current is supplied to glow plugs 7W10 via a resistance 5 adapted for stable heating of the glow plugs. After passing of a time determined by the temperature of engine cooling water, a relay coil 4s is de-energized, and the glow plugs 7W10 are kept at a temperature of several hundred degrees determind by the supply voltage. Here, if the engine is heated to a temperature higher than a predetrmined value, current supply to all of the glow plugs 7W10 is stopped.
