Abstract

PURPOSE:To issue the warning by providing a voltage comparator at the output terminal of a gas sensor, operating a warning circuit, and detecting the decrease in the output voltage of the gas sensor when the wires of the gas sensor are broken and a heater is broken. CONSTITUTION:The gas sensor 3 is heated to a certain temperature by a heater 4. When either of the wires 8 and 9 or a heater 4 is broken in this state, heating by the heater 4 becomes impossible, and the temperature of the gas sensor 3 is decreased. When the temperature is decreased, the resistance value of a semiconductor electrode element 5 becomes high, and the current flowing the element 5 is decreased. When the current is decreased, the terminal voltage across a resistor 11 is decreased, the voltage value becomes lower than a specified differential voltage 15(V2), and the output of the voltage comparator 14 is shifted to a high level from a low level. As a result, a transistor 22 is turned ON, and the warning circuit 19 is operated. At the same time, a light emitting diode 24 is lit to display that the warning for the breakdown of the wires 8 and 9 or the breakdown of the heater 4 is issued.
