Abstract

PURPOSE: To judge the temperature of a plug to properly control the same by dedecting either the resistance of a switching element or the pressure drop of the plug which is intermittently supplied with an electric power through the switching element.
CONSTITUTION: An oscillator 5 oscillates in response to the conduction of a key switch 4 so that the resultant signals are shaped by ashaping circuit 6 and are fed intermittently to the base of a transistor 3 forming a switching element. When this element 3 is connected, each glow plug 2 is preheated by a battery 1. On the other hand, when the element 3 is rendered inconductive, the voltage at a resistor 7 and the plug 2 is fed through an amplifier 8 to a comparator 9 and a memory circuit 11 so that it may be compared with a reference value thereby to judge the temperature of the plug 2 from the voltage drop. When the temperature detected is lower than the preset value, the time for the element 3 to be conductive is elongated to preheat the plug 2
