Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a liquid crystal of display area from being degraded by a sealing resin and obtain a long life panel by using a semiconductor substrate for a lower substrate, using a transparent glass substrate for the upper side, and providing a liquid crystal well and a liquid crystal passage formed by a sealant to the glass substrate. CONSTITUTION:In forming a pattern 41 of a sealand (shown by diagonal lines) on an upper transparent glass substrate 42, a liquid crystal well area 45 and a communicating passage 47 of a display area 46 and the area 45 are formed by a sealand right under a liquid crystal injection hole 44 opened in the substrate 42. A liquid crystal 46 is placed on the hole 44 and a required amt. thereof is put into the area 46 through the well 45 and the passage 47, after which a sealing resin is put into the hole 44, the well 45 and down into the passage 47. Thereby, the contact area of the resin and the liquid crystal is made only the section of the passage 47 and can be made smaller than that of the case of piercing a hole directly in the display part and sealing the same after feeding the liquid crystal, and the long life cell is obtained. There are virtually no liquid crystals which are wasted and the staining of the bonding pads of a semiconductor substrate 43 with the liquid crystal does not occur.
