Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display unit with superior moisture resistance and in which nonuniformity in an interval between substrates is improved by forming a seal part whose one end is formed in opened loop shape and providing a projecting part in the loop shape part. CONSTITUTION:The titled unit is the liquid crystal display unit constituted by sealing the periphery of a liquid crystal by the seal part 13, and the seal part 13 is formed in such a way that one end is formed in the opened loop shape, and in the inside of the loop shape part, the projecting part 12 is provided on a transparent substrate, and also, a gas is filled. Therefore, a part being brought into contact with the liquid crystal in the loop shape seal part is formed by jointing two sheets of transparent substrates, which prevents the liquid crystal from flowing out, and the part being brought into contact with the outside is formed by jointing the two sheets of transparent substrates, which suppresses outside water from invading, simultaneously. Also, the projecting part provided on the transparent substrate in the inside of the loop shape part eliminates the water invading on the surface of the substrate, and the gas in the inside of the loop shape part sets the inside of the seal part at a low temperature. And the effective supporting area of the two sheets of transparent substrates can be increased in the loop shape seal part. In such a way, it is possible to improve the moisture resistance of the liquid crystal display unit and the nonuniformity of the thickness of the display unit.
