Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve moisture resistance by forming orientation control films under specific conditions in a liquid crystal display device formed by sealing the electrode substrates provided with the orientation control films by means of an org. selaing member.
CONSTITUTION: Orientation control films 7, 7 are formed on substrates 2, 1 provided respectively with electrodes 3, 4 and the above-mentioned two substrates are sealed by means of an org. sealing member 5, after which a liquid crystal 10 is sealed into the inside, whereby the liquid crystal display device is formed (symbol 6 is upper and lower conducting parts). In the above-mentioned device, the orientation control films 7 are formed on the substrates more largely than the inside circumferential part 8 of the sealing member 5 (preferably slightly larger than the outside circumferential part 9) at ≥50Å film thickness (preferably 100W400Å) by usihg a material which is superior in orientation controllability and has good adhesiveness to the electrode substrates, sealing member, etc. (silane and titanium coupling agent, etc.).
