Abstract

PURPOSE:To elevate the reliability, by making a sealing material for sealing the circumference adhere onto both surfaces of the substrate and the polarized plate, so that air bubbles from the outside do not get in. CONSTITUTION:This display element is provided with a transparent substrate 1, an opaque substrate 2', a transparent electrode 3 consisting of tin oxide, etc., placed on the inside wall surface side of the substrate 1, and an electrode 4 consisting of an opaque thin film. As for the two substrates 1, 2', a polarized plate 5' of the surface side and a polarized plate 6 of the reverse side are stuck with an adhesive material on the outside of the transparent substrate 1, and the surface of the opaque electrode 4 provided on the inside wall surface side of the opaque substrate 2', respectively, and these two substrates 1, 2' place a liquid crystal layer 7 of about 10mu thick between them, and the circumference is sealed with an organic sealing mterial 8. The sealing material 8 is sealed so that it adheres onto both the surfaces of the substrate 2' and the polarized plate 6, by making the polarized plate 6 of the rear part smaller than the substrate 2'.
