Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal display device with high reliability by working substrates into a display electrode and a counter electrode, setting the electrodes opposite to each other, and sealing them with >=2 kinds of adjacent adhesives to inhibit impurities from entering and to prevent the electric current value from increasing. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower substrates are flexible polymer films, the upper substrate 1 has a display electrode 3 along the underside, and the lower substrate 2 has a counter electrode 4 on the upside. The surfaces of the electrodes 3, 4 are oriented, and at least one of the substrates is coated with a gapping agent for keeping the gap between the substrates uniform. A liq. crystal 6 is introduced into the gap between the substrates 1, 2 from a liq. crystal injecting hole 5 by making use of atmospheric pressure difference, and the hold 5 is sealed by melt bonding with an ultrasonic welder or the like. Two kinds of adhesives 8, 9 are adjacently applied by transfer or other system. Since the inside adhesive 8 contacts directly with the liq. crystal 6, an adhesive exerting no unfavorable influence on the liq. crystal 6 and the oriented films is used as the adhesive 8.
