Abstract

PURPOSE: To give an even cell gap by hermetically bonding the remaining entire surface of both upper and lower transparent substrates except their pattern display parts and liquid crystal injection paths by mens of transparent adhesives serving also as spacers and providing the exclusive driving electrodes to the liquid crystal at the injection path parts.
CONSTITUTION: In the flexible liquid crystal cell or large image plane liquid crystal cell using plastic sheets as its substrates, injection path liquid crystal driving electrodes 12 and pattern display electrodes 13 are provided to the bottom surface of the upper transparent substrate 11 having undergone orientation treatment. These are the transparent electrodes of In2O3. Transparent adhesive layers 21 serving also as spacers are printed on the remaining entire surface of the substrate 11 except its electrodes 23 and injection paths 22. A lower transparent substrate having counter electrodes is bonded hermetically to the substrate 11 by way of the adhesive layers 21. TN liquid crystal is injected to the display parts 23 through the injection paths 22 and the injection port 25 is sealed. This cell is inserted between the polarizing plates which are so disposed that the polarizing plates of the upper and lower two sheets become mutually parallel.
