Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a flexible liq. crystal display device which is driven by applying a pressure by a finger by combining a display panel formed by sealing a liq. crystal in the space between flexible polymer films as upper and lower substrates with a switch panel and polarizing plates or reflecting plates by a specified method. CONSTITUTION:A liq. crystal 3 such as a twist nematic liq. crystal is injected into the space between polyester films as upper and lower substrates 1, 2 and tightly sealed with a sealant 4. Upper and lower polarizing plates 7, 8 are laid on the upper substrate 1 and under the lower substrate 2, respectively, and a switch plate 9 which doubles as a reflecting plate is set under the plate 8. A pair of right and left opposite electrodes 12 are arranged on the substrate 6 of a driving circuit, and they are separated from an electrically conductive film 10 under the plate 9 by a spacer 11. The upper substrate 1 is connected to the substrate 6 by a zebra contact 5. By applying a pressure to the resulting laminate A by a finger 13, the film 10 is brought into contact with the electrodes 12, and switching action is conducted.
