Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of peeling-off of seal of a cell formed in the peripheral part of a substrate, and to elevate the yield, by forming plural sealing materials and space reinforcing materials between 2 substrates placed so as to be opposed to each other, when simultaneously forming plural liquid crystal cells by use of a large-sized substrate. CONSTITUTION:For instance, 2 glass substrates on which 4 kinds and 6 kinds of electrode patterns have been formed in the lateral row and the longitudinal row, respectively, are prepared. One substrate has a common electrode pattern, and the other has a display electrode pattern. On one substrate 1, an epoxy compound adhesive agent containing Al2O3, whose particle diameter is 10+ or -1mu is screen-printed as a space reinforcing material 3 along the position surrounding each electrode pattern 2 and the peripheral part of the substrate 1. Subsequently, 2 substrates are placed one upon another, are heated to 150 deg.C, and the adhesive agent is hardened. After that, the space reinforcing material 3 provided on the peripheral part is cut off, is cut along a line 4, and each cell is separated. In this way, when the 2 substrates have been placed one upon another, the center part sags, it is prevented that thickness of a liquid crystal layer of the center part cell is different from that of the peripheral part cell, also large stress is put on the peripheral part, and it is prevented that the cell formed in the peripheral part causes peeling-off of seal.
